BIOS UPGRADE PROCEDURE    PLEASE Read Completely ......

The system must be on A/C power to upgrade the BIOS properly.

Preliminary steps :

The following files must be put on a bootable floppy:
With enclosed phlash.exe file and platform.bin files date 11/6/97;

Platform.bin (11/6/97)
Phlash.exe (11/6/97)

31g2106a.rom
31g2106b.rom
31g2106c.rom
31g2106d.rom

	!!! Ending with "a" means Please make sure your machine bios ends in "A"
	!!! Ending with "b" means Please make sure your machine bios ends in "B"
	!!! Ending with "c" means Please make sure your machine bios ends in "C"
	!!! Ending with "d" means Please make sure your machine bios ends in "D"



(Either create a bootable floppy first by using 'Format A: /S' and
then copy the .rom files to the floppy diskette, or place the .rom files on 
a floppy and use MS-DOS Prompt and type 'SYS A:'. This will place the 
system files on the floppy diskette, making it bootable.)

1. Turn the system OFF by holding down the Fn key and pressing the
   power/suspend button until a beep is heard. 
2. Release the power button first and the system should shut off. 
3. Insert the floppy and press the power button. This will cold boot
   the system and bring up the bootable floppy to A:
4. Type   PHLASH 31G2106x.ROM<CR>  
5. An information screen will come up telling of the changes that are
   being made.
6. When done, a green screen will come up to tell you to press a 
   key to reboot, remove the floppy diskette and press any key and 
   the system will reboot 
7. The system will ask to press F2 to continue, press F2 and then <CR>
   to accept the change to factory defaults
8. Press right arrow to move to Exit and Save Settings. 
   The system will restart and will have the new BIOS installed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
