This section provides two installation procedures. The first is for NetWare 3.11, followed by the procedure for NetWare 3.12. ==================================================== = PRO110(B) PCI-BUS FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER = = Driver Installation Procedure = = >>> NetWare v3.11 Server Driver = ==================================================== The NetWare 3.11 server driver files are in the \NW_31X subdirectory of this diskette. 1. Power on the file server and execute the Novell SERVER.EXE program. 2. Insert this diskette in the server's floppy disk drive (the example uses Drive A:) and load the file LSLENH.NLM first. This will automatically load PATCHMAN.NLM. At the server's prompt, type: LOAD A:\NW_31X\LSLENH.NLM <enter> ** NOTE: The examples here detail how to key-in the LOAD command and some of its parameters. Most users prefer to put the LOAD command into the AUTOEXEC.NCF file which is automatically executed each time the server is booted. Refer to the NetWare documentation for details on setting up auto-execution files. 3. Load MSM and ETHERTSM.NLM. At the server's prompt, type: LOAD A:\NW_31X\MSM.NLM <enter> LOAD A:\NW_31X\ETHERTSM.NLM <enter> 4. Load the LAN driver file AX88140.LAN and bind it. The format for LOAD is -- LOAD <driver name> <PARAMETER NAME>... <PARAMETER NAME[=VALUE]> To include the Ethernet frame type in the command, type -- LOAD A:\NW_31X\AX88140.LAN SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=AX140_802.2 BIND IPX TO AX140_802.2 NET=2 and/or -- LOAD A:\NW_31X\AX88140.LAN SLOT=1 FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 NAME=AX140_802.3 BIND IPX TO AX140_802.3 NET=3 The LOAD command can also contain other parameters which will force the PRO110(B) or the driver to function in certain ways. See the NetWare documentation for standard NetWare parameters. PRO110(B) driver-specific parameters are listed below. PARAMETER NAME DESCRIPTION ---------------- -------------------------------------------------- SLOT=xx On a PCI machine, starts from slot number 1 for the first Ethernet device. TP_FULL_DUPLEX forces twisted pair connection to work in dedicated Full-Duplex mode. Include both this and the LINE_SPEED=xxx parameters if the attached device (e.g., switching hub) is also set to dedicated Full-Duplex. LINE_SPEED=xxx sets PRO110(B) line speed to 10Mbps or 100Mbps Format: LINE_SPEED=<value> Allowed values are: 10,100 Include this if TP_FULL_DUPLEX parameter is used. ** NOTE: 1. The TP_FULL_DUPLEX and LINE_SPEED=xxx parameters are for use when connecting PRO110(B) to a Full-Duplex network device. Do not include these two parameters in the driver command if the link partner is a Half-Duplex or Auto-Negotiation device. If attached to a Half-Duplex or Auto-Negotiation device , the PRO110(B) driver can automatically set the correct line speed and operating mode. 2. If you use the MONITOR.NLM shipped with NetWare 3.11, your server could abend when viewing LAN statistics in MONITOR.NLM with AX88140.LAN driver. We have provided the newer Novell MONITOR.NLM program in the driver diskette to correct this problem. ### ==================================================== = PRO110(B) PCI-BUS FAST ETHERNET ADAPTER = = Driver Installation Procedure = = >>> NetWare v3.12 Server Driver = ==================================================== NetWare v3.12 server driver files are in the \NW_31X subdirectory of this diskette. 1. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
