***************************************************************************

This software is a Client-only release; Windows XP and Windows 2000
Professional computers cannot use the Symphony Conductor Sharing Software
to share Internet or network connectivity. To share Internet connectivity
from a Windows XP/2000 Professional computer, install the Symphony products
in a "peer-to-peer network" configuration and install Microsoft's Internet
Connection Sharing (ICS) on the Windows XP/2000 Professional computer.
Refer to the Internet Connection Sharing tech notes at
http://www.proxim.com/support/ for details.
***************************************************************************

***************************************************************************

Do not install this software if your computer has more than one processor.
This version of Symphony does not support multiple processors and will
perform incorrectly if multiple processors are present.
***************************************************************************

1. Download the Symphony ZIP file from the Symphony support Web site and
copy it to a folder on the computer's hard drive.

2. Extract the Symphony installation files from the ZIP file.

3. Run the Symphony Setup Application (SETUP.EXE) to launch the Symphony
Installation program.

that the software package does not contain a Microsoft digital signature.

6. Insert the Symphony adapter into the computer when prompted.

7. Windows XP users: When the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, select
"Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click <Next>.
Also, if prompted to choose between multiple INF files, select
C:\WINDOWS\INF\NETSYM2K.INF from the list of options.

Windows 98/ME users: Insert the Windows installation CD if prompted.
If you do not have a Windows installation CD, point the installation wizard
to search the Windows Cabinet (CAB) files, commonly located in

8. Windows XP users: Click <Continue Anyway> when prompted that the
Symphony adapter has not passed Windows logo testing.

SECTION B: UPGRADING TO SOFTWARE VERSION 3.01

Follow these steps to upgrade the Windows 98/ME/2000 Professional computers
on your existing Symphony Network from an earlier software version to
software version 3.01:

********************************************************************************
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you are upgrading a Windows 95/98/ME/2000 Professional computer to Windows XP,
uninstall any Symphony software that is installed on the computer first before
upgrading the computer to Windows XP. Once the computer has been upgraded to
Windows XP, install the Symphony software following the instructions in Section
A above.
********************************************************************************

1. Open the Symphony Maestro Configuration Tool on one of the wireless
computers.

2. Click the Configure tab under the Symphony Network Status heading.

3. Write down the Security Code used by your network. You may be prompted
to enter this Security Code during the software upgrade.

4. Create a new directory on each computer's C: drive and name it
"PROXIM."

5. Download the Symphony 3.01 ZIP file from the Symphony Support web
site and place it in the "C:\PROXIM" directory of each wireless computer.

6. Select one wireless computer to upgrade first.

NOTE: If your network is sharing a cable modem, DSL modem, or dial-up modem
installed in one of your computers, you must upgrade the computer that is
sharing its modem first.

7. Open the C:\PROXIM directory within the My Computer icon or
Windows Explorer of the computer you selected in Step #6.

8. Use an Unzip utility to extract the Symphony 3.01 installation files from
the ZIP file downloaded in Step #5.

9. Double-click SETUP.EXE to launch the Symphony Installation program.

The Symphony Installation program will automatically detect that a previous
version of the Symphony software is installed on the computer.

NOTE: This software will install Symphony version 3.01 on the computer.
The bottom of the Symphony Installation Setup screen for Windows 98/ME
erroneously states, "Click 'Upgrade' to install Symphony V2.0." It
should read, "Click 'Upgrade' to install Symphony V3.0."

10. Click the <Upgrade> or <Continue Installation> button.

11. Be patient while the installation program upgrades the files installed
on the computer.

12. Click <Finish> to close the Symphony Installation Setup wizard.

13. Windows 98/ME users: Restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the Symphony Composer Installation Wizard will
launch automatically. For Windows 2000 Professional users, the Symphony
Composer will appear automatically without restarting the computer.

14. Click <Next> to continue.

15. If prompted, enter the network's Security Code, which you wrote down
in Step #3 above. Click <Next> to continue.

16. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your Symphony adapter.
Refer to the Symphony User's Manual for additional information.

17. Select another wireless computer to upgrade.

18. Follow Steps #7 to #16 for each wireless computer on your Symphony Network.

***************************************************************************
NOTE:
If you experience any problems following the upgrade of the Symphony
software, uninstall the Symphony software by choosing Start > Programs >
Symphony > Uninstall Symphony. After you have uninstalled the Symphony
