Installation Procedure for WM-6/45 GUI on SNMPc 5.0 for Windows 98
2/19/01

Install GUI and DLL files on PC:

1. Castle Rock SNMPc 5.0 and its latest patch level must already be installed on the
Windows 98 PC. Due to the use of the DDE link feature of SNMPc, WMGUI for the 6/45
radio works with Castle Rock SNMPc only and no other SNMP management software. If
SNMPc is not already installed on the workstation, postpone this procedure until SNMPc
has been installed and at least one radio node has been configured.
3. Run the setup.exe program on disk 1.
4. A prompt will appear on the screen asking for disk 2. Insert disk 2 and click the OK
   button.
5. A prompt will appear on the screen asking for disk 3. Insert disk 3 and click the OK
   button.
6. The Western Multiplex SNMPc Application Setup Screen will appear. Accept the defaults
by clicking the buttons as requested.
7. At the end of the installation, an Installation Successful message should appear.
8. When the installation has completed copy the following file:

C:\SNMP\wmgui.exe

To:

C:\Program Files\SNMPc5.0\apiexec\

7. Also make sure that the nmu645.mib file has been copied to:

C:\Program Files\SNMPc5.0\mibfiles\

Configure WMGUI in SNMPc:

1. Start SNMPc.
2. Select Configure>Default Object from the menu bar.
3. In the Default Object Properties window select Exec Program from the Attrib: list.
4. Click the >> button.
5. Select wmgui.exe in the Select Exec Program window, click the Open button. The file name
wmgui.exe should now be in the Value box above the Attrib: list in the Default Object
   Properties window.
6. Type $n after wmgui.exe in the Value box of the Default Object Properties window. The
result should look like: wmgui.exe $n
7. Select Set Community in the Attrib: list.
8. Type private in the Value box.
9. Now click the OK button in the Default Object Properties window.

Compile the WM-6/45 MIB:

1. Select Configure>MIB Database from the SNMPc 5.0 menu bar.
2. In the Compile MIBs... window there will be a MIBs to Compile list. Select all the MIB
files except standard.mib and click the Remove button. Now click the Add button and select
nmu645.mib and all the .mib files starting with rfc. When those files have been selected,
   click the OK button.
2. Now click the Compile button. A message box saying Compile MIBs? will appear. Click the
Yes button. After the MIBS have compiled another message box saying MIB Compile OK will
   appear. Click the OK button.
3. Now click the Done button on the Compile MIBs... window.

Verify GUI Operation:

1. Go to the Map window and double click on the radio node. The WM-6/45 GUI will appear with
the node's name in the title bar. The LED images in the GUI will be in the same state as
the front panel LED's of the radio and only those cards that are physically present in the
radio should be displayed in the GUI once communications with the radio have been
   established.

Icon Files:

1. Two icon files are included as well. They can be used in place of the generic
symbols included in the map screen of SNMPc. The "subnet" icon in the top level map can
be changed to a symbol representing a radio tower and the default device icon can be changed
to the WMC vortex logo to represent a radio. To use these icons copy the two files,
tower.ico and wmvortex.ico to the C:\Program Files\SNMPc\bitmaps directory. To change an
object's appearance on the SNMPc map screen, right click on the object with a mouse and
select Properties. The Icon field in the General tab of the Map Object Properties window
shows the type of icon to be displayed for the object. Click on the >> button next to the
Icon field to see a list of available icons. Choose the tower icon for the subnet object and
the vortex for the 6/45 radio object.
