HARMONY 802.11A CLIENT ADAPTER UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

The following README.TXT file describes how to upgrade the Harmony 802.11a CardBus Card
or Harmony 802.11a PCI Card from version 1.2 or 1.3 to the latest software version 1.4.  
For new installations of the Harmony 802.11a CardBus Card or Harmony 802.11a PCI Card, 
refer to the Quick Start Guide for your product or to the Harmony 802.11a Network Adapter 
User's Guide.

Section A describes the improvements that have been implemented in the Harmony software 
from version 1.3 to version 1.4.
Section B describes how to upgrade the Harmony 802.11a software from version 1.1/1.2 to 
software version 1.3.
Section C describes how to contact Proxim Technical Support.


SECTION A: SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS

Software version 1.4 contains the following improvements over version 1.3:

*   Driver and utilities for Windows NT 4.0

*   New Snoop tool added to Harmony Utility

*   New upgrade tool

*   Configuration settings for Fragmentation added to Harmony Utility

*   802.1x support (see manual for details)

*   Includes other software updates
 

SECTION B:  UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

Follow these steps to upgrade to software version 1.4:

1. Download HARM11A14.ZIP from Proxim's Web site and copy it to a folder.

2. Use an unzip utility to extract the software files from HARM11A14.ZIP.

3. Double-click SETUP.EXE to begin the upgrade process.

4. Click the Upgrade button when prompted that the Harmony 802.11a Utility is
already installed on the computer.

5. Restart the computer when prompted.

6. After the computer reboots, open the Harmony Utility and click the About tab.
Confirm that the utility is now running software version 1.4.

NOTE: Refer to a Harmony 802.11a Quick Start Guide or the User's Guide for additional
assistance installing an adapter.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
