fwReadme.txt Driver File Contents (LSI1650.zip)

Updated 1/26/04

This flash code contains the following versions for the LSI Elite 1650 (Series 494):
New Release Version: 111Q
BIOS Version: F316 (Enables PCI Bus Master bit for ES7000-IA32)

IA-32 flash procedure in boot slot:
Flashing the LSI Elite 1650 boot controller used in an IA-32 system (ES7000/5xx):
If you only have one LSI controller in the system, and it is in the boot slot
(slot 1 of PCI Bus -x-1-1), then the card can be flashed where it is in the
ES7000/5xx system.
Boot the ES7000/5xx to a DOS bootable diskette.
Then, insert a diskette with the flash files and type "Mflash".
Then, follow the prompts on the screen.

IA-32 flash procedure for the LSI 1650 in a non-boot slot:
If you have an additional LSI Elite 1650 adapter in the system,
or an LSI Elite 1650 that is NOT in the boot slot,
it may not be seen by the flash program, if this is the case,
remove the LSI Elite 1650 from the ES7000/5xx and place it in a non-ES7000 IA-32 system.
Boot the non-ES7000, IA-32 system to a DOS bootable diskette.
Then, insert a diskette with the flash files and type "Mflash".
Then, follow the prompts on the screen. This will cause a normal NVRAM/DISK msimatch.
see note #2 to resolve the mismatch.

IA-64 flash procedure:
Flashing the LSI Elite 1650 used in an IA-64 system (ES7000/130 or ES7000/4xx etc..):
Remove the LSI Elite 1650 from the IA-64 ES7000 and place it in a non-ES7000 IA-32 system.

Notes:

1. WebBIOS (CTRL-H) is not supported on the ES7000. Use CTRL-M if you have an IA-32
system and use EFICTRM.EFI from the EFI prompt if you have an IA-64 system.

2. If you already have an existing configuration using an older BIOS, this procedure
of running the controllers with no disk drives attached on a different system in
order to update the BIOS may cause a normal mismatch between the configuration
on the disks and the configuration in the NVRAM (on the controller).
If this happens, you will not be able to access your
disks until the mismatch is resolved. In order to resolve this mismatch,
place the LSI Elite 1650 back into the ES7000, run the
configuration utility (CTRL-M or EFICTRM.EFI) and select "Configure" then "View/Add
Configuration", then, View "Disk" Configuration, Escape, verify that the logical drive
state is "Optimal" and choose "Yes" to save the configuration. Then, exit the
configuration utility and reboot.

3. Firmware 111Q fixes the BSOD Stop 77 problem seen only in the IA-32 environment.
This firmwarwe resolves TIB#10130816. The default cache settings can now be used.
