11/04/02 -Emulex LP8000/LP9002L Driver 2.11a2 Release Notes- Affected adapters: FCH20111-P64 (Emulex LP8000-D1, copper for ES2000/5000) FCH20113-P64 (Emulex LP8000-F1, optical for ES2000/5000) FCH720111-P64 (Emulex LP8000-D1, copper for ES7000) FCH720113-P64 (Emulex LP8000-F1, optical for ES7000) FCH732213-P64 (Emulex LP9002L-F2, optical for ES7000) Starting with the release of Emulex Port driver 2.11a2, you MUST configure the adapter for specific disk/tape setups using the new Emulex Configuration Tool (GUI) as per the instructions below, otherwise you may not be able access your drives!! Note that the previously released command-line utility (EMCCFG.EXE) is not to be used anymore and should be discarded. EMULEX/EMC CONFIGURATION TOOL v1.41a4 INSTRUCTIONS (NEW): A newer version of the Emulex Configuration Tool v1.41a4 has been released for driver 2.11a2. This Tool allows the new EMC PowerPath 3.0 or legacy Clariion ATF to be used (but not simutaneously on the same host). In addition, the fibre baud rate is now automatically set correctly for EMC subsystems. In most cases, only one "pre-defined" option button needs to be clicked to properly configure the entire adapter. You must run the Emulex Configuration Tool (from the Start > Programs Menu) after you install the driver. Once you've installed driver 2.11a2 (which automatically installs old Tool v1.41a2), you should update to the new Tool v1.41a4 if you have an EMC subsystem. You can do this by executing "Tool_Update.cmd" which is now found on the root directory of the W2K_2.11a2_1.41a4.exe zip file. Please refer to your specific configuration: EMC SYMMETRIX/CLARiiON - After you execute "Tool_Update.cmd" ensure that the EMC RAID subsystem is physically connected and the target is online to the Emulex adapter. Then run the Emulex Configuration Tool (elxcfg.exe --emc) and click on the adapter which is connected to the EMC RAID. Then from the top menu bar, click Configuration > Set > and click on one of the following: "EMC Arbitrated Loop with (or without) EMC PowerPath/ATF" or "EMC Fabric with (or without) EMC PowerPath/ATF". Then from the top menu bar, click on File > Apply. Repeat the above steps for any other adapters connected to EMC RAID. You must then reboot the server for the changes to take effect. HITACHI RAID - Do not update to Tool v1.41a4. Ensure that the Hitachi RAID subsystem is physically connected and the target is online to the Emulex adapter. Then run the Emulex Configuration Tool (elxcfg.exe) and click on the adapter which is connected to the Hitachi. From the top menu bar, click on Tuning > Link Control > then select Arbitrated Loop or Point to Point. Then refer to the main menu and verify the following options are set (the rest of the options should be disabled): Automatically Map SCSI Devices Query Name Server for all N-Ports Allow Multiple paths to SCSI targets Register for State Change Use Report LUNs Use Name Server after RSCN (Enable for Fabric, disable for Arb Loop) Scan in Device ID Order Report Unknown SCSI Devices Enable FCP-2 Recovery Maximum Number of LUNs = 255 Maximum Queue Depth = 128 Then go to the top menu bar and click Tuning > Timers. Verify the following option is set (use defaults for all other timers on the main menu): Wait Ready Timer = -1 Then from the top menu bar, click on File > Apply. Repeat the above steps for any other adapters connected to Hitachi. Finally, you must then manually edit the Windows registry. Execute regedt32 from the Start > Run menu. Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\elxsli2 Under the root for elxsli2, add entry "NameServerDelay". Set its value to 800 (decimal). Under the root for elxsli2, add entry "QuickFail". Set its value to 1. Under each adapter instance, add entry "QuickFail". Set its value to 1 as well. Exit regedt32. You must then reboot the server for the changes to take effect. TAPE DRIVES or JBOD DISKS - Ensure that the tape/JBOD unit is physically connected and the target is online to the Emulex adapter. Then run the Emulex Configuration Tool (elxcfg.exe) and click on the adapter which is connected to the tape/JBOD unit. From the top menu bar, click on Tuning > Link Control > then select Arbitrated Loop or Point to Point. Then refer to the main menu and verify the following options are set (the rest of the options should be disabled): Automatically Map SCSI Devices Allow Multiple paths to SCSI targets Register for State Change Use Report LUNs Use Name Server after RSCN Scan in Device ID Order Report Unknown SCSI Devices Maximum Number of LUNs = 255 Maximum Queue Depth = 32 Then from the top menu bar, click on File > Apply. Repeat the above steps for any other adapters connected to tape/JBOD units. You must then reboot the server for the changes to take effect.Download Driver Pack
