Only the CMXBOOT portion is included. These firmware files are for the following Unisys printers: UMS475 UMS500 UMS501 UMS800 UMS900 UMS1000 UMS1200 UMS1400 UMS1500 For download instructions, refer to "Installing A Printer For MCP/AS Print System Use", under: Printer Specific Information Unisys UMS475, UMS500, UMS800, UMS1200, or UMS1400 Printers Downloading Printer Operating System Software from your MCP System Refer also to the PATCHNOTES/PRINT/SUPPORT file, under FIRMWARE/UMSXXXX, for updates to the download instructions. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: This Interim Correction can be installed using the manual installation instructions given below, or if this Interim Correction package includes a file beginning with the node INSTALLDATAFILE, it may also be installed using SimpleInstall or InstallCenter. Before beginning the installation process, please review the FALLBACK INSTRUCTIONS at the end of this document and take any necessary steps to prepare for possible fall back to the previous software level. For SimpleInstall or InstallCenter installation: Please refer to the appropriate procedures documented in the: ClearPath HMP NX and A Series Simple Installation (SI) Operations Guide (SimpleInstall Instructions) ClearPath HMP NX Series NX/InstallCenter Operations Guide Ensure that the base release for the given Interim Correction has been previously installed. If using SimpleInstall, first copy the install file to a pack family on the system. If using InstallCenter, the install file can be accessed directly from the release media. When using either SimpleInstall or InstallCenter, specify the install file on the appropriate screen. If installing from a CD, use the install file titled INSTALLDATAFILE/SYSTEM/<media name>/CD. If installing from media other than a CD, use the install file titled INSTALLDATAFILE/SYSTEM/<media name>. To install all the files from this Interim Correction package, leave the Software Product Name field blank or specify *ALL*. When using SimpleInstall to install files that have been previously copied to disk, select "Specify copy / installation options", then enter "Y" in the selection that says "Copy file from Disk instead of from the release media". This action will bring up a screen on which you can specify the directory name and usercode. When using InstallCenter to install files that have been previously copied to disk, click the "Options..." button, then select the "Copy Control" tab, and then specifiy the source of the files in the appropriate fields. For manual installation: These instructions describe how to install the print system files which run under MCP and two optional sets of files (for PrintCenter and MCPPRT) which run in the Microsoft Windows environment. PrintCenter is usable only on HMP NX systems and MCPPRT is usable only if you have ReprintS. It does no harm to install these optional files even if you do not use them. 1. Copy the existing *SYSTEM/PRINT files under a different name. For example, enter 'COPY *SYSTEM/PRINT/= AS *OLD/SYSTEM/PRINT/= FROM <familyname> TO <familyname>'. Copy the file *SYSTEM/DEVICESUPPORT as a different name. For example, enter 'COPY *SYSTEM/DEVICESUPPORT AS *OLD/SYSTEM/DEVICESUPPORT FROM <familyname> TO <familyname>'. Copy the files *SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/PRNTCNTR/= and *SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/MCPPRT/= as a different name. For example, enter 'COPY SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/PRNTCNTR/= AS OLD/SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/PRNTCNTR/='. Step 1 may be omitted, but doing it will save having to copy the older versions of the PrintS related files from tape if problems are encountered. See FALLBACK INSTRUCTIONS. 2. Copy in the new PrintS related files from the IC media to the desired family. If you are using a COMBINED IC media, then enter 'COPY *PRINTS/= AS *= FROM <tapename> to <familyname>' else enter 'COPY = FROM <tapename> to <familyname>'. Note: this assumes that both the SYSTEM/PRINT/= files and the SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/= files reside on the same family. If they do not then you must copy the SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/= files to the family used for SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/=. 3. Use the 'PS QUIT NOW' command, from the ODT or from MARC, to bring down the Print System immediately. This will also bring down any *SYSTEM/PRINT/BACKUP/PROCESSOR tasks that are currently running. 4. The new system libraries will need to be established by entering 'SL PRINTSUPPORT = *SYSTEM/PRINT/SUPPORT ON <familyname>' 'SL DEVICESUPPORT = *SYSTEM/DEVICESUPPORT ON <familyname>' 'SL FONTSUPPORT = *SYSTEM/PRINT/FONTSUPPORT ON <familyname>' Do not omit this step, even though the codefile title may remain the same. 5. Use the 'PS RESTART' command, from the ODT or from MARC, to make the new Print System active. INSTALLING PRINTCENTER AND MCPPRT ON AN NX SYSTEM: 1. From each workstation which requires the new software connect to the UTILS share on the MCP server updated above. 2. Within the UTILS share change to the appropriate directory (either PRNTCNTR or MCPPRT) and run the SETUP.EXE program. INSTALLING MCPPRT ON AN A SERIES SYSTEM: Because disk shares cannot be created on an A series system you must use another mechanism to copy the MCPPRT install file from the MCP environment to the Microsoft Windows environment and then install from there. One file SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/MCPPRT/"WEBSETUP.EXE" is all that is required to fully install the MCPPRT client on a Windows PC. Since MCPPRT relies on TCP/IP you can normally use FTP to copy this file, although any method which can transfer binary files is acceptable. To use the A Series FTP batch client to send this file to a system running an FTP server enter: COPY [FTP] *SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/MCPPRT/"WEBSETUP.EXE" AS '\PUBLIC\WEBSETUP.EXE' (FTPTYPE=IMAGE) TO DISK (DOMAINNAME="DOM", USERCODE=UC/PW) Replace DOM with the system name and UC and PW with a valid usercode and password on that system, replace PUBLIC with the name of a directory to which user UC has write access. Alternatively, to use the A Series FTP server to make this file available to systems with an FTP client do the following: Log in to the A Series using the usercode you plan to use to FTP the file. Copy *SYSTEM/NXSERVICES/UTILITIES/MCPPRT/"WEBSETUP.EXE" as WEBSETUP-EXE (changing the name makes using A Series FTP easier). To use the Microsoft FTP client to copy the file to a client workstation do the following. From the client workstation run the FTP client program by entering the 'FTP' command (without the quotes) at a command prompt. Then enter the following commands: OPEN <MCP host name> USER <MCP Usercode> (Enter a password if one is requested) TYPE IMAGE GET WEBSETUP-EXE QUIT Rename the file you just copied by entering RENAME WEBSETUP-EXE WEBSETUP.EXE Then run the setup program by entering WEBSETUP Here is an example of how this might look, user input is underlined: c:\Scratch>ftp hostname ------------ Connected to hostname.mv.unisys.com. 220 Unisys A Series FTP Server (Version 45.122.065) ready. User (hostname.mv.unisys.com:(none)): mcpusercode ----------- 331 UserName received; please send the PassWord. Password: --------- 230 User mcpusercode logged in; you may proceed. ftp> type image ---------- 200 The TYPE has been set to Image. ftp> get websetup-exe ---------------- 200 The next Data Port open will be Active to 192.59.333.444 #474 150 Opening a Type Image Data connection for "WEBSETUP-EXE". 226 Transfer complete; Data connection closed. X bytes received in X seconds (X Kbytes/sec) ftp> quit ---- 221 Good-bye. c:\Scratch>rename websetup-exe websetup.exe -------------------------------- c:\Scratch>websetup -------- At this point the setup program should run. EXCEPTION CONDITIONS: Do not DS the *SYSTEM/PRINT/SUPPORT library unless it is absolutely necessary because it may have the side effect of bringing MARC and COMS down. FALLBACK INSTRUCTIONS: If a problem is encountered while using the PrintS software supplied on this tape, please revert back to your previous version. This may be accomplished by repeating the steps in the INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, with step 1 omitted, and step 2 replaced with the following: 2. Copy the old PrintS related files back to their original names. For example, if the old PrintS related files were under the nodes *OLD/SYSTEM/=, then enter: 'COPY *OLD/SYSTEM/= AS *SYSTEM/= FROM <familyname> TO <familyname>'. If the old PrintS related files were not kept on the system when the new ones were installed, then they will have to be copied from the previous correction or release tape.Download Driver Pack
