SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION 1.1 Description This software is designed to install the ORiNOCO Wireless Client adapter in Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. 1.2 Software Components The software for ORiNOCO Wireless Client comprises the following components: .\Setup.exe installation program .\Setup.ini installation file .\setup.inx installation file .\data1.hdr installation file .\data1.cab data cabinet file .\data2.cab data cabinet file .\ikernel.ex_ installation file .\install.txt installation file .\layout.bin disk layout file .\Setup.bmp installation splash bitmap .\Win2k\*.* Driver for Win2000 .\Winxp\*.* Driver for WinXP ----------------------------------------------------------- 2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Operating System The software and/or drivers provided with this ZIP file can be installed on the operating systems Windows 2000, and XP operating systems. 2.2 Free Disk Space To install and run the software you will need 10 MB of free disk space for the whole installer. ----------------------------------------------------------- 3. NEW IN THIS RELEASE 3.1 The Wireless Utility is only workable on Window 2000/XP. 3.2 The driver is enhanced with SNA Hot Fix in it. (654) 3.3 The driver can support adapter with 0x31 as its internal domain code. (16021) 3.4 The setup program can provide backward compatibility to prior-v3.0.1.6/2.4.x.x/2.3.x.x-setup program on Window 2000/XP. 3.5 The PCU can now fully support Windows Zero Configuration on Windows XP. 3.6 Wavelink OIDs are supported. 3.7 The resume/standby issue has been fixed. (16365) 3.8 Auto Select Profiles – Users can now rank their profiles and have the client utility automatically choose which profile to use based on what AP is found. 3.9 WPA / 802.1x supports the following authentication types: EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, PEAP(EAP-GTC), PEAP(EAP-MSCHAPv2), LEAP 3.10 Using Windows Logon for Authentication (Single-Sign On) – An example of this is when the user selects to use PEAP Authentication, there will now be an option to “Use Windows User Name and Password”. If the user chooses this option, then he does not need to enter a user name and password and the client utility will use the Windows user name and password for PEAP Authentication. 3.11 Security supports Mixed Cells – There is a checkbox for this option in the Security Configuration Page. The user would need to enable this feature if he/she is on a network that utilizes multiple securities on the same SSID. This is applicable for the following securities: Static WEP and 802.1x. ----------------------------------------------------------- 4. INSTALLATION NOTES Please run "Setup.exe" and follow instructions to install. ----------------------------------------------------------- 5. TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS At the time of release of this software, no known problems remain to be solved. ----------------------------------------------------------- 6. KNOWN ISSUES The release of this software is for pre-test for Proxim client, all known issues since v2.4.x.x/v3.0.x.x is not yet verified. Potential issues might include the following items: 6.1 This release is not compatible with Window 98/Me. 6.2 Upgrade from 2.4.2.17 (October 2003 Release) on Windows XP requires the user to disable Windows Zero Config manually. ----------------------------------------------------------- 7. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
