There are 8 files related to the HPT366 Device Driver for Microsoft
Windows 2000 RC2:

    1.  HPT366.INF    The Windows 2000 installation file.
    2.  README2.TXT   This file.

    3.  HPT366.SYS    The driver file.
    4.  TXTSETUP.OEM  The Windows NT 4.0 Installation file.
    5.  README.TXT    The Windows NT 4.0 driver's readme file.
    6.  OEMSETUP.INF  The Windows NT 4.0 Installation file.
    7.  HPT366.TAG    
    8.  DISK1   

I N S T A L L I N G  T H E  D R I V E R:
****************************************************************************
This installation procedure is specific only to the current version of the 
driver and installation file. 

NOTE:  
  1.The driver (HPT366.SYS) and installation file (HPT366.INF) must be
    located on the same directory of the install floppy diskette.

  2.Users need to install HPT366 driver for Windows 2000 twice for each 
    HPT366 host adapter since each contains two functions.


Usually, when you plug the HPT366 Ultra DMA 66 host adapter into your system and
boot up the Windows 2000 system, the system will be able to detect the HPT366
Ultra DMA host Adapter automatically and ask you to install the driver for HPT366.
You can just follow the instructions promted by the system to install the 
driver.

Otherwise, you can install the driver by the following steps:

1.  Windows 2000 must be installed on the system prior to installing the
    driver.

2.  Close any running applications.
 
3.  Open "My Computer".

4.  Double click on the "Control Panel" icon.

5.  Double click on the "Systeme" applet.

6.  Click on the "Hardware" button.

7.  Click on the "Device Manager" button.

8.  There is a Window listing hardware types, select the "SCSI and RAID controllers"
    then double click it.

9.  There is a Window listing drivers types, select the "HPT366 Ultra DMA 66 controllers"
    then click the right key of mouse.

10.  Double Click on the "Properties".

11.  Click on the "Driver" button.

12.  Click on the "Update Driver" button.

13.  Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device", then Click on the "Next" button.

14.  Select "Floppy disk drivers" and Insert the HPT366 Windows2000 driver disk
     into A:. then Click on the "Next" button.

15.  The wizard found HPT366 Ultra DMA 66 Controllers, Click on the "Next" button.

16.  To Continue, Click on the "Next" button. 

17.  Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard. Click on the "Finish" button.

18.  Restar the System.



U N - I N S T A L L I N G  T H E  D R I V E R :

You can use the device manager in the System control panel to remove the
driver.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
