Installing The Novell NetWare DOS ODI Client Driver --------------------------------------------------- Installation of PCMCIA 10/100 Ethernet Card's driver for specific environment is described as below. Dosodi ------ Location of driver: \DOS.ODI\PC400F.COM NOTE: ----- To use the A:\DOS.ODI\PC400F.COM, the version of LSL.COM must be V2.11 or higher. Installation Procedures ----------------------- Driver Installation From The Command Line Prompt Following the steps listed below: 1. Insert the PCMCIA 10/100 PC Fast Ethernet Card's driver diskette into the floppy drive. 2. Create a sub-directory in your client's main boot drive with the following files: LSL.COM Link Support Layer PC400F.COM PCMCIA Ethernet Card's NetWare DOS ODI Client driver IPXODI.COM An IPX protocol stack file (e.g., IPXODI.COM) NETX.EXE NetWare Shell (used with conventional memory workstations) NET.CFG Optional (used for configuring options different from the default settings). See Novell NetWare Operating System Keywords section. The (LSL.COM), (IPXODI.COM) and (NETX.EXE) files can be obtained from the Workstation Driver Diskette in the Novell Client Software Package or from CompuServe. Copy the MAC-layer driver file PC400F.COM from the DOS.ODI directory of the PCMCIA 10/100 PC Fast Ethernet Card's driver diskette to the appropriate sub-directory. To do this, copy the file using the path "A:\DOS.ODI\". 3. To manually load these files from the DOS prompt, type the following commands in the given order to initialize DOS ODI driver support and the IPX protocol stack: LSL.COM, PC400F.COM, IPXODI.COM, NETX.EXE Note: If you are using DOS 6.2 or higher version, you can install Netware DOS requester (VLM),too. 4. To automatically load these files, use a DOS text editor to create and/or modify an (AUTOEXEC.BAT) file. Load the files in the following order: 1) link support layer, 2) LAN driver, 3) protocol stack, and 4) the shell. Your (AUTOEXEC.BAT) file should look similar to the following: \<sub-directory>\LSL \<sub-directory>\PC400F \<sub-directory>\IPXODI \<sub-directory>\NETX 5 If the upper commands have been written in the autoexec.bat file, reboot the system. Now, Your workstation will attach to the NW server and show the server name if a server has standed by on the other side. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
