1. Overview
-----------
TIFF Viewer is an application software for displaying and printing TIFF Revision 6-compatible TIFF files and Internet Fax specifications-compatible TIFF-FX files. TIFF Viewer can display and rotate images in different zoom ratio. Printing is executed through a print driver.
The features of TIFF Viewer are as follows:

* Displaying various types of TIFF files
TIFF Viewer displays not only monochrome files but also color multi-page TIFF files where the image compression type is in JPEG format. TIFF Viewer also displays TIFF-FX files based on the Internet Fax specifications. The TIFF-FX files must be in one of the following compression types:
  - Profile S (MH)
  - Profile F (MH, MR, MMR)
  - Profile J (JBIG, monochrome)
  - Profile C (JPEG)
  - Profile L (JBIG, color)

* Browsing TIFF images with simple operation
TIFF Viewer enables you to easily browse all the images in a multi-page TIFF file using the high-quality thumbnail view. TIFF Viewer also enables you to view a specified page in a zoom ratio of 10% to 400% by clicking the thumbnail image.
To display a file image, you can drag and drop the image into the TIFF Viewer window. Alternatively, you go to [Open] in the [File] menu, and select a file that you wish to view while browsing the thumbnail view in the [Open File] dialog box.

2. Copying and Distribution
---------------------------
Copying and distribution of TIFF Viewer is permitted with the condition that the TIFF Viewer software, the installer, and the information about license agreement, copyright, and registered trademark described in this release note must be included. Any modification or reproduction to the installer program that we provided is strictly prohibited.

3. System Requirements
----------------------
The following Windows(R) operating systems (Hereafter "OS") are required for TIFF Viewer:
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 English version (Hereafter Windows(R) 98)
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Millennium Edition English version (Hereafter Windows(R) Me)
Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R) 4.0 English version (Hereafter Windows NT(R) 4.0)*
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 English version (Hereafter Windows(R) 2000)
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP English version (Hereafter Windows(R) XP)
* Service Pack 6a or later

Hardware environment is compliant with the recommended value in the respective OS mentioned above, however, we recommend:
  CPU Pentium 1GHz or higher
  Memory 256 MB or more
Free hard disk space of 10 MB or more**
** More than this amount of free hard disk space is required during installation.

During the actual operation, the required amount of memory depends on the resolution and size of the TIFF file you wish to view.

4. Installation
---------------
To start the TIFF Viewer installation, double-click "setup.exe" or "xdiv.msi" in the distribution package. Please note the following:

* Before you begin installation, be sure to exit all running applications.
* To install TIFF Viewer in Windows NT(R) 4.0, Windows(R) 2000, and Windows(R) XP, you need the Administrator's access rights.
* During installation, Windows Installer Service must be running on the OS you are using, as MSI (Microsoft Windows Installer) is required to install TIFF Viewer. If your system does not have Windows Installer Service, you can download from the Microsoft website.
You can also install it automatically by running "setup.exe" in this software. (After the installation of Windows Installer Service, you need to restart your OS. The installation of Windows Installer Service is not necessary for Windows(R) 2000 and Windows(R) XP as Windows Installer Service will be running by default.)

4-1. Installation Procedure

After decompressing the self-extracting file, run "setup.exe", which resides in the same directory as the decompressed self-extracting file. If Windows Installer Service is running on the OS you are using, start TIFF Viewer Installer by double-clicking "xdiv.msi".
When TIFF Viewer Installer is started, follow the instructions to install the software.
If you do not specify the install destination, the program will be installed in the following directory:
		C:\Program Files\Fuji Xerox\TIFF Viewer\
(If your system drive is "C:")

5. Uninstallation
-----------------
You can uninstall TIFF Viewer using [Add/Remove Programs] in Control Panel. You can also uninstall it using either "setup.exe" or "xdiv.msi" that you used for installation.

5-1. Uninstalling using [Add/Remove Programs]

Click [Start] from Task Bar and select [Control Panel]. Open [Add/Remove Programs] in Control Panel.
Select [TIFF Viewer] from the list and click [Change/Remove].
Follow the instructions to uninstall the program. When the uninstallation is completed, a message indicating that the uninstallation is completed will appear.

5-2. Uninstalling using Installation Package

Run either "setup.exe" or "xdiv.msi" that you used to install TIFF Viewer.
The message [Repair TIFF Viewer 1.0] and [Remove TIFF Viewer 1.0] will appear.
Select [Remove TIFF Viewer 1.0] and click [Finish]. The uninstallation process will start.
When the uninstallation is completed, a message indicating that the uninstallation is completed will appear.

6. Starting and Exiting TIFF Viewer

7. Notes and Limitations
------------------------

7-1. Installation

(1) During the installation of TIFF Viewer, the file extensions ".tif" and ".tiff" will be associated with TIFF Viewer. If you have already associated ".tif" file and ".tiff" file with an application other than TIFF Viewer in [Folder Option] from [Tools] in Explorer, the setting will be applied. In Windows(R) 98 and Window NT(R) 4.0, the file extensions ".tif" and ".tiff" are associated with TIFF Viewer by default. For more details about the association between file extensions and applications, refer to Windows(R) Help.

7-2. TIFF Viewer Operation

(1) TIFF Viewer consumes system memory according to the size and resolution of a TIFF file to be displayed. If you want to display a high-resolution file or a file with many pages, be sure to configure the system, for example, by increasing the virtual memory so that it can reserve sufficient memory.

(2) In Windows(R) 98 and Windows(R) Me, if you specify a high zoom ratio of 400%, the image may not be displayed properly depending on the number of pixels of the TIFF file to be displayed. This is because Windows(R) 98 and Windows(R) Me limit the memory size of drawings.

(3) In Window(R) 98 or Windows(R) Me, when you print TIFF Viewer images, the images may not be printed or previewed correctly if your printer is configured to print at a high resolution. To solve this problem, reduce the resolution of your printer and print again. For more details, refer to Microsoft Technical Support Information 128345.

(4) When you start TIFF Viewer software, you may recieve the message "Error 1706, No valid source could be foundc", if you installed TIFF Viewer from the installation package on newtwork drive or removable media. The problem will occur if the TIFF Viewer installation package is not accesible when the TIFF Viewer starts initially. To solve the problem, you must map the network drive or removable media as same as you installed the software befor starting the TIFF Viewer. For more details, refer to Microsoft Technical Support Information 299803.

(5) If you open TIFF that includes XXXX character, you may receive the message "XXXXc" and TIFF Viewer may come to a close.
To solve the problem, you should change the TIFF file name that doesn't include XXXX character.

7-3. Others

(1) TIFF Viewer cannot display a TIFF file saved in Picture and Fax Viewer in Windows(R) XP as the compression type (LZW) not supported by TIFF Viewer is applied to the TIFF file. The same problem occurs when you change the properties of a TIFF file in Explorer.

(2) TIFF Viewer cannot display a TIFF file saved in Imaging in Windows(R) 98/NT/2000. TIFF Viewer supports TIFF standard format of JPEG6 (Conformable to RFC), but Imaging cannot create TIFF standard format of JPEG6 (Conformable to RFC).
You cannot display image file, which is saved by Imaging, and [Invalid image attributes.] message is displayed.

(3) EasyOperator(R) cannot print TIFF file after installing TIFF Viewer, so you should have to print TIFF file using TIFF Viewer when you install TIFF Viewer.
