ARTIST GRAPHICS MAGNIVIEW -- 28 September 1996 =============================================+ INTRODUCTION ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Windows 95 driver distribution disk includes the MagniView spyglass feature. This allows you to easily magnify the area under the mouse cursor so that it can be seen more clearly. The spyglass features are controlled using the MagniView application. You may like to drag this application to your Windows Startup folder so that it will be available each time you start your system. NOTE: in this release, the spyglass is only available when running at 8 bits per pixel (256 colours). KEYBOARD CONTROL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To control MagniView using the keyboard, press any of the following keys: CTRL-F9 Turn on and off spyglass CTRL-F10 Change the spyglass size CTRL-F11 Change the spyglass zoom level CTRL-F12 Change the position of the spyglass relative to the cursor CTRL-ALT Turn on or off spyglass as long as key is held These keypresses are available at any time while MagniView is running. Note that CTRL-ALT behaves slightly differently to the other hotkeys -- the effect ends as soon as you release either key. It's ideal if you are using the spyglass intermittently as you move over a large document. MOUSE CONTROL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can also control MagniView using only the mouse. Each of the four corners of the screen controls a feature of the spyglass, as follows: Upper left Change the spyglass zoom level Lower left Turn on and off spyglass Lower right Change the position of the spyglass relative to the cursor Upper right Change the spyglass size To activate the feature, you need to move the mouse into the extreme corner of the screen. You may find you do it by accident occasionally, but with a little practise, it soon becomes second nature. MAGNIVIEW OPTIONS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When MagniView is running, it leaves a small icon on your desktop. If you double-click on this icon (or use ALT-TAB to switch to MagniView), the options window is displayed. You can use this window to redefine the hotkeys used to control the various features -- click on the feature you want to define, then select a key from the keyboard display, along with an optional CTRL or ALT qualifier. You can also disable the mouse control if you choose, by deselecting the "Corner Control" checkbox. If you experience erratic mouse movement while using the spyglass, especially with the larger sizes, it may be that your mouse is not able to correctly deal with such a large cursor. You can work around this by deselecting the "Fast Mouse" checkbox. This defers updating the spyglass so that it doesn't interfere with mouse movement, and should correct any such problems. However, movement will be a little slower with this option disabled.
