Thanks for choosing the NP10T Ethernet 10BaseT PC Card. Before
attempting to install the card, we highly recommend that you read
the User Guide that came with your card in order to install both your
PCMCIA socket & card services AND your network driver.
WINDOWS NT 3.51 SETUP
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The instructions below explain how to install Ethernet-
Card's network drivers for NT 3.51.
Before you begin the installation, you should have your
original Windows NT CD-ROM handy. NT may ask
for it in order to install special files onto your computer
during the network driver setup. When this occurs,
insert your CD-ROM or other media into the drive and
tell Windows NT to look in the \i386 directory on the
appropriate drive. For example, if your CD-ROM is
drive D: on your system, and Windows NT is
requesting a file from it, you would type in D:\i386 and
press Enter in order to inform NT of the CD-ROM's
location.

CAUTION - NT IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY
Because NT is not a true plug-and-play
network operating system, the Ethernet PC Card
cannot be inserted or removed from your computer
while it is turned on. Failure to shut down
before insertion or removal may cause your computer
to lock up.

Shut down your computer. Insert the Ethernet
PC Card into either of your computer's PCMCIA
slots if you haven't already.
Start up your computer. If asked to log in, do so.
When the Program Manager appears, open the Main
group, followed by Control Panel. Double-click on the
Network icon.
If you have not already installed the networking
components for NT, you will see a message that reads:
Windows NT Networking is not installed.
Install it now?
To install NT networking while setting up the
Ethernet PC Card, continue with step 1 below.
If you have already installed networking and only
wish to set up the card, skip to the section
below entitled, "Install the Ethernet PC Card Only".
Install NT Networking
and the PCMCIA Ethernet PC Card Together
1. NT may ask you to supply your CD-ROM. If it does,
supply it as needed. After NT has finished copying
any required files to your system, click on Continue.
2. NT will prepare a list of available network card
choices to choose from. When the Detection window
appears, click on Do Not Detect. Click on Continue
when the Did Not Detect Card window appears.
3. Next, scroll to the bottom of the Add Network
Adapter window, select Other, and click Continue.
4. Put the Ethernet PC Card driver disk into drive A.
When asked to supply the path where the Ethernet PC Card
driver disk is located, type a:\ and click OK.
5. When the window with Network Everywhere Ethernet
10BaseT PC Card appears, click OK. NT will copy the
networking files it needs to your system.
6. When asked to supply the I/O Base, Interrupt (IRQ),
and Memory values, enter them. Good values to start
with are 300 (for the I/O Base) and 5 (for the IRQ).
The settings you choose should be the same settings
that were chosen when you installed your PCMCIA
socket & card services.
NT may copy more files to your system at this time.
7. If asked to choose your network protocols, do so.
8. A final screen will appear with your chosen network
settings. Make any final changes as necessary, then
click on the OK button.
9. When the Domain/Workgroup Settings window
appears, choose either Workgroup or Domain, enter
the proper workgroup or domain name, and click
OK. The choice you make depends on your network.
Refer to your NT networking documentation for
more information, or see your network administrator
for the proper settings.
Restart your computer when asked to do so. After
NT restarts, be sure to log in.
Look at the media coupler of Ethernet PC Card.
If your cabling is properly attached and the network
is detected, the green Link light will be on, and the
amber Activity (ACT) light will be flickering or
solid. The Link light is for use with twisted-pair
(10BaseT) cabling only.
The installation is complete. You can now access
the network at large through the Windows File
Manager.
Install the Ethernet PC Card Only
(NT Networking is Already Installed)
1. Open the Windows Control Panel and double-click
on the Network icon. Click on the Add Adapter
button in the Network Settings window. Scroll to the
bottom of the adapter list and choose Other. Click on
Continue.
2. Put the Ethernet PC Card driver disk into drive A.
When asked to supply the path to the disk, type a:\
and click OK. When the Ethernet 10BaseT PC Card window
appears, click OK. NT will copy a few necessary files
to your computer.
3. When asked to supply the I/O Base, Interrupt (IRQ),
and Memory values, enter them. Good values to start
with are 300 (for the I/O Base) and 5 (for the IRQ).
The settings you choose should be the same settings
that were chosen when you installed your PCMCIA
socket & card services.
4. When the Network Settings window appears, make
any final changes as needed, then click OK. NT will
configure your workstation's network settings. When
asked to reboot your PC, click on the Restart Now
button. After NT restarts, be sure to log in.
5. Look at the media coupler of Ethernet pc Card. If
your cabling is properly attached and the network is
detected, the green Link light will be on, and the
amber Activity (ACT) light will be flickering or
solid. The Link light is for use with twisted-pair
(10BaseT) cabling only.
The installation is complete. You can now access the
network at large through the Windows File Manager.
WINDOWS NT 4.0 SETUP

The instructions below explain how to install Ethernet-
Card's network drivers for NT 4.0.
Before you begin the installation, you should have your
original Windows NT CD-ROM handy. NT may ask
for it in order to install special files onto your computer
during the network driver setup. When this occurs,
insert your CD-ROM or other media into the drive and
tell Windows NT to look in the \i386 directory on the
appropriate drive. For example, if your CD-ROM is
drive D: on your system, and Windows NT is
requesting a file from it, you would type in D:\i386 and
press Enter in order to inform NT of the CD-ROM's
location.
Shut down your computer. Insert the PCMCIA
Ethernet PC Card into either of your computer's PCMCIA
slots if you haven't already. Start up your computer. If
asked to log in, do so.
Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click on
the Network icon.
If you have not already installed the networking
components for NT, you will see a message that reads:
Networking: install it now?
To install NT networking while setting up the Ethernet-
Card, click on Yes and continue with step 1 below.
If you have already installed networking and only
wish to set up the card, skip to the step below
entitled, "Install the Ethernet PC Card Only"
Install NT Networking
and the PCMCIA Ethernet PC Card Together
1. Choose Wired to the Network and click Next.
Choose to pick from a list of available adapters.
2. When the list appears, click on the Have Disk button.
Put the Ethernet PC Card driver disk into drive A and
type a:\ Click OK. When Ethernet 10BaseT PC Card (NP10T)
appears, click OK.
3. Click OK. When the Network Setup wizard
reappears, choose your desired Network Protocols,
then click Next.
4. When asked to choose the network services to install,
do so. Click Next when you are finished. Click Next
to install the components you have selected. If asked
to supply the path to the setup disk, type a:\ and
press Enter.
5. NT will ask you to supply the I/O Base and Interrupt
values for the card. Good values to start with are 300
(for the I/O Base) and 5.
If you're not sure of the interrupt and other resource
values that are available for use with the Ethernet
PC Card, click on the Resources tab. Look at
the IRQs that are already in use and choose one that
is unused. To check the I/O values, click on the I/O
Port button.
6. When you're finished entering your I/O and Interrupt
values, click on Continue. NT will copy necessary
workstation files to your computer.
When the Network Setup Wizard reappears,
configure your bindings. See your Windows NT User
Guide for more information.
7. When the bindings are configured, click Next, foll-
owed by Next again to start the network.
8. When the Network Wizard window reappears, enter a
name for your computer.
9. Next, choose either Workgroup or Domain, then
enter the workgroup or domain name that
you want your PC to connect to. If you're
not sure of the name, see your Windows
NT user guide(s) or contact your network
administrator for the proper settings.
When you're finished, click on Next, followed by
Finish. Choose to restart your computer.
After NT restarts, be sure to log in.
Look at the media coupler of Ethernet PC Card. If your
cabling is properly attached and the network is detected,

icon on the Windows NT desktop.
Install the Ethernet PC Card Only
(NT Networking is Already Installed)
1. When the Network window appears, click on the
Adapters tab. Click on the Add button, followed by
Have Disk. Put the Ethernet PC Card driver disk into
drive A. When asked to supply the path to the disk,
type a:\ and click OK.
NT will ask you to supply the I/O Base,
Interrupt, and Memory values for the card.
Good values to start with are 300 (for the
I/O Base) and 5 (for the IRQ).
2. When you're finished, click OK. NT will copy
necessary files to your computer.
3. When the Network window reappears, click on the
Bindings tab. Choose your bindings. Click on the
Protocols tab and select your settings. Do the same
for the Services tab.
4. After your bindings, settings, and services are set,
click on the Close button. Choose to restart your
computer. After NT restarts, be sure to log in.
5. Look at the media coupler of Ethernet PC Card.
If your cabling is properly attached and the network
is detected, the green Link light will be on, and the
amber Activity (ACT) light will be flickering or
solid. The Link light is for use with twisted-pair
(10BaseT) cabling only.
The installation is complete. You can now access the
network at large through the Network Neighborhood
icon on the Windows NT desktop.
If You Have Problems
If the LED on media coupler don't light up after you
restart your computer, you may need to change your
PCMCIA slot's boot setting in NT:
Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click
on the Devices icon. Scroll down in the Devices list
to PCMCIA. Click on Startup. Verify that the
Startup Type is set to Boot. If it isn't, use your
mouse to select it. Click OK, then Close. Choose to
restart your computer.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
