Introduction
============
	This document describes problems and situations encountered installing and using the
 	WorkCentre XE90fx Printer Software. This should help resolve problems or any unusual
 	situations.

Install/Uninstall Problems
==========================

	Windows 95 Plug N Play Installation
	===================================
		Installing the WorkCentre XE90fx printer software using Plug N Play from the CDROM
		may display an error "Cannot find file SPIPNP.DLL". This problem is solved by
		changing the directory to the root directory of the CDROM. (Ex D:\ or E:\ ).

	Installing using Add Printer Wizard
	===================================
		Installing the WorkCentre XE90fx printer software CANNOT be performed using
		"Add Printer Wizard".

	Uninstall Problem
	=================
		If the WorkCentre XE90fx printer properties dialog is open and uninstall is
		performed, the software will not be completely removed. You will have to
		install the WorkCentre XE90fx software and then uninstall with the dialog closed.

Operation with other Printers Installed
=======================================
	1) Problems may occur when the WorkCentre XE90fx is installed with other printers that
	display	status information at the PC. The problem is that the 2 status programs
	conflict. Disabling the other printer status program solves the problem.

	Status Programs may disabled by:
		- Remove all other printer manufacture programs started in the STARTUP program
		  group or folder. Restart the computer after deleting.

		- Status programs may also be started via command lines in SYSTEM.INI & WIN.INI
		  located in the Windows directory. Put a ';' at the start of any line that
 		  loads any printer related programs.

		  For Example, The HP 6P status program is started in WIN.INI. The line
		  "LOAD=C:\....\HPLJSW.EXE" starts the status program. Deleting or placing
		  a ; at the start of the line will disable the starting of the status program.

Default Paper Size & Units of Measure
=====================================
	The default paper (Letter or A4) and image shift units of measure (Inch or MM) is based
	upon the country code set for the Windows operating system. The country code can be set
	from the Windows "Control Panel" / "Regional Settings".

	For correct operation, the country code must be set before installing the WorkCentre XE90fx
	printer software. If the country code changes after installation, the printer software
	must be installed again.

	The following table describes the defaults for each language.

					Default	Default
	Country Code Paper Size	Units of Measure
	============		==========	================
	English US		Letter		Inch
	English UK		A4		MM
	English Others	 	A4		MM

	Norwegian - ALL		A4		MM

Printing problems
=================
	- If you have problems printing complex or 14" documents, lower the printer resolution
	  to 300 dpi.

	- If you get Out of memory error, Lower printer resolution to 300 dpi.

	- DOS Printing Problem: After installing WorkCentre XE90fx software, The PC should be
	  rebooted. This will correct printing from the DOS prompt.

	- Print to file: To print to file, change the port to FILE: for the port assigned to
	  the printer. Do not select the application "Print to file" option.

	- Printing problem with MS WORD97: Word97 may lock up after printing. This may be
	  corrected by setting "Background Printing" OFF. This is found in the Word97
	  Tools/Options Menu on the Print Tab.

	- Printing from MS POWERPOINT97: The PowerPoint97 print dialog has Black/White Printing
	  enabled as default. This result is opposite to the screen appearance (Black text on a
	  white background). If Black/White printing is disabled, the result is the same as the
	  screen appearance (White text on a dark background).

	- If print options selected in the WorkCentre XE90fx series Printer Driver Dialog don't

TWAIN Requirements
==================

	To use the Xerox WorkCentre scan function the Xerox WorkCentre XE90fx
	must be connected to the PC via a 1284 Parallel port that is in ECP mode.
	Check your PC documentation to determine how to check your computer's
	Parallel Port mode.

	You must have scanning software (example- TextBridge Pro) installed
	on your PC. From within the application you must select the Xerox WorkCentre XE
	as the "Source".

	To scan, use the application's Scan function to access the
	Xerox WorkCentre XE TWAIN Driver Dialog.

TWAIN Problems
==============

	When using Pagis Pro 2.0 to scan originals from the SPF, if Reverse
	Order is set in the XE90fx TWAIN driver and scanning is cancelled,
	scanning will continue until all pages in the SPF have been scanned
	even if the XE90fx TWAIN user interface is no longer displayed. This
	condition occurs when Reverse Order is set in the Xerox TWAIN
	driver. You can disable Reverse order in the SPF tab of the XE90fx
	TWAIN driver.

	When using Textbridge Pro 98 to scan originals from the SPF, if you
	want to cancel scanning, you must first click the Cancel button on
	XE90fx TWAIN driver user interface, and then click the Get Page button
	of Textbridge Pro 98. For scanning multiple pages you should use the
	Auto Process button in Textbridge, if you use the Get Page button you
	should disable Reverse order in the SPF tab of the XE90fx TWAIN
	driver.

	When scanning an original from OmniPage Pro using the XE90fx TWAIN
	scanning software, Show TWAIN settings before scan of OmniPage Pro
	must be Auto, and Reverse Order of SPF tab of XE90fx TWAIN Scanner
	must be checked (default). That setting for OmniPage Pro is in the
	TWAIN Scanner Settings tab of the TWAIN Scanner dialog of the Caere
	Scan Manager.

	When using Photoshop 4.0 to scan originals from the SPF, if Reverse
	Order is set in the XE90fx TWAIN driver and a message such as "Not
	enough virtual memory space to hold the image. Please resize your
	scan". is displayed, this message may continue to be displayed even if
	you click OK. If this condition occurs, exit out of Photoshop 4.0 and
	expand storage space of Hard Disk.

	The Imaging accessory of Microsoft Windows NT4.0 does not support the
	scanning function. as noted by the Microsoft corporation
	homepage. (1999.November).
	In the Imaging accessory the Scan New, Select Scanner and Scan
	Preferences options are unavailable. For details of the information,
	please refer to the internet homepage of the Microsoft corporation.
