1) ELECTRONIC DOCUMENTATION
===============================================================
Electronic Documentation (PDF format) is located in the \DOCS
folder on each CentreWare CD. The Print and Fax Drivers Guide for
Windows (WDV_620.PDF) is intended for administrators who install
and configure CentreWare Printer drivers, and for users who want
to know more information about printer drivers and their
installation.
Please copy these files to each user workstation or to a
network location that is accessible to all users.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print PDF
files. Acrobat Readers are available free of charge from
Adobe at WWW.ADOBE.COM. Please consult the Adobe Web site for
the latest product upgrades and support information, as well as
foreign language versions of the Acrobat Reader.

3) Features
===============================================================
The CentreWare 6.20 release of the Xerox DocuSP Printers supports
the following new features and hardware:
- additional PCL trays
- halftone selections constrained per resolution selection
- 2/3 and 2/4 hole punching
- Z-fold half-sheet selection
- access to the printer’s stock library via bi-directional
capabilities. This new feature makes it even easier to set up
named papers within the printer driver. The Java Virtual Machine
must be loaded on the PC to use this capability.
- Xerox Printer Driver Installation Utility and Admin Config Wizard.

4) Known Issues
===============================================================
[Windows Installer: Project 98 Users]
An old version of the msflxgrd.ocx file from Microsoft (dated
September 1997) locks and will not upgrade within the client.
A run error may result. If you encounter this condition when
you launch the Xerox Printer Driver Installation Utility or
the Xerox Admin Configuration Wizard, use the following
workaround: Browse to the 'C:\WINDOWS\system32' folder
(assuming your OS is installed on the "C" drive), and rename
the file 'MSFLXGRD.OCX' to 'MSFLXGRDold.OCX'. If the system
does not allow you to do this, start Windows in Safe Mode by
pressing the F8 key while restarting. Then rename the file.
You will then be able to launch the installer.
[Windows NT Driver 'SAVE' Limits on WIN2000 OS]
Windows NT drivers running on Windows 2000 operating systems
cannot save large, complex jobs due to restrictions of the
operating system.
[N-Up Printing Issues]
Various printing errors may occur in different drivers with
N-up printing. The follow list includes some issues that may
result:
- PhotoShop: A 9-up, single-image job results in printing
one large photo image on the entire page with a single box
outlining the frame.
- N-up may not function for landscape documents. The first side
of a two-sided document may not print.
- A single, full-page Photoshop image may print overlaying
portions of the outline boxes sized for 9-up printing.
- Corel Draw: The copy count may be interpreted as an
image number. For example, when you request four copies of a
9-up (single-page print), four images may print on one page
rather than four pages printing with one image in each square.
The following list includes most of the known application
incompatibility issues for the Windows PostScript driver:
APPLICATION DRIVER FEATURE
=================================================================
Acrobat 4.0, 5.05 Rotated Landscape, Mirror Image,
Negative Image
CorelDraw! 8.0, 10.0 N-up, Scaling, Rotated Landscape,
Watermark
FrameMaker 5.5.6 Rotated Landscape
Freehand 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 N-up, Scaling, Rotated Landscape,
Watermark, Mirror Image, OpenType
Illustrator 8.0, 10.0 Watermark, Euro
InDesign 2.0 Scaling
PageMaker 6.5, 7 N-up, Scaling, Rotated Landscape,
Watermark, Mirror Image, Negative Image,
Euro
Photoshop 5.0, 5.5. 6.0 Watermark, Euro
QuarkXPress 4.0, 4.1.1 N-Up, Rotated Landscape, Mirror Image,
Watermark, Euro
WordPerfect 7.0 Rotated Landscape
PowerPoint N-up
Newer versions of these applications may resolve many of these
incompatibilities.
[WordPerfect]
With WordPerfect 7, 8, and 9 running on Windows, collated
jobs that are duplexed may produce the first page of one set
on the back page of the previous set. Turn off the collate
option in WordPerfect and select collate from the printer
driver.
[Garamond Font Produces Inconsistent Output]
Numerous versions of the Garamond font are in use. When the
version used by an application differs from the version that
is resident on the printer, various character spacing and
artifacting problems can occur. Workarounds for this problem
include:
- Install the Adobe Type 1 Garamond font on your workstation
rather than the True Type version of Garamond.
- Remove Garamond from the PPD file to ensure that Garamond
will always be downloaded to the printer with each job.
- Select the "Always Send to Printer" option in the print
driver. (This may have an adverse affect on performance
because it applies to all fonts.)
[Microsoft Office Binder (Office 97, 2000, etc.)]
- Make Print Selections from Within Control Panel. You must
select printer features from within the Printers folder
(i.e., not from Binder's Print dialog) in order to reliably
influence the printing of contained documents when there is
more than one contained document.
- Printing Booklets. Some MS-Binder documents are not compatible
with the PostScript output option 'Optimize for Portability'.
If you experience problems printing booklets, select the
PostScript Output option 'Optimize for Speed' on the Advanced
tab.
- Printing Booklets to File. Booklets cannot be printed to
file from MS-Binder by choosing 'Print to file' in an
application, or by choosing port 'FILE:'
Work around: Open the printer's Properties dialog from the
Printers folder. Go to the Details tab, select
Add Port/Other/Local Port and enter a filespec such as
'c:\psoutut.prn'. Then, connect the printer to that port.
Whenever you print, the output will go to that file. Booklets
may be printed to file in this manner.
[Paper Orientation Setting Conflicts]
To change the orientation of your printed document when
using many applications, you must use the Orientation setting
on the File > Page Setup > Paper Size dialog. This setting
typically overrides the Image Orientation setting within the
printer driver. Therefore, document orientation changes may
not take effect unless the change is made throughout the
application.
[Setting the Number of Copies for a Print Job]
If you experience problems with the Copies setting, you
should select the number of copies within the application.
Some applications may override the settings within the
printer driver. If the problem persists, set the number of
copies in both the application and the driver.
[Draw Outlines Option in Windows NT4.0/2000/XP PostScript
Drivers]
You may select "Draw Outlines" with both the N-Up and the
Booklet Layout options. If you then select the Fit to New
Size option, your document will print on the new size and
with outlines.
[Shared "Saved Settings" - Distributing to Point and Print
NT4/2000/XP Clients]
When using Point and Print, Windows distributes shared Saved
Settings to clients as a low priority. You can expect that
after you change the shared Saved Settings file, Windows
will distribute the Saved Settings to clients by the next
morning, though possibly sooner.
