If you have the Win95v1_996.zip file, use PKZIP or Winzip (or equivalent) to extract the release files to floppies. These files should be in the destination directory: readme.txt (this file) studio.inf studio.vx_ studioui.dl_ stutray.ex_ factory.ss_ user.ss_ stupanel.cp_ studasio.dl_ studeasi.dl_ 2) Power-down your PC and install the STUDI/O card (refer to the manual for more information). 3) Boot up and Windows will prompt you for a driver for the new device. Install the floppy with the driver and Windows will complete the software installation. UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE STUDI/O SOFTWARE: 1) If you have received the STUDI/O software on floppy disk, skip this step. If you have the Win95v1_996.zip file, use PKZIP or Winzip (or equivalent) to extract the release files to floppies. These files should be in the destination directory: readme.txt (this file) studio.inf studio.vx_ studioui.dl_ stutray.ex_ factory.ss_ user.ss_ stupanel.cp_ studasio.dl_ studeasi.dl_ studiox.dl_ 2) Select Properties for My Computer. Under the Device Manager tab, expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers tree and select the STUDI/O Audio Device and press Properties. Select the Driver tab and press the Update Driver button. Steer to the location of the new driver files and Windows will complete the software upgrade. CONFIGURING STUDI/O Once the new driver is installed, go to the settings tab of the STUDI/O properties page and specify the desired wave audio appearance for the board. Restart the system. If no dialog boxes appear on startup, the board is correctly installed and functioning properly. Make sure STUDI/O is not selected by the MultiMedia control panel, unless you really want it to (usually you don't). Opening that panel, check 'user preferred devices only' and make sure no STUDI/O devices are selected as the preferred record or playback device. Then in the Advanced tab, under Audio Devices, double-click the Studi/o device, and check the 'do not map through this device' box. If you are having difficulties, refer to the IN CASE OF DIFFICULTIES section below (bottom of this file). Review the file sizes and dates from the new release to the files installed in your system (all STUDI/O files are installed in the Windows SYSTEM directory). Note that if you copy over a .DLL or .VXD file that is currently in use, the operation may fail or you must (warm) reboot for the file change to be effective. Windows' plug-and-play driver management can easily get confused if driver files somehow get out of sync. In these cases, it is best to completely remove the device and install it again from the latest driver floppy disk. To completely remove the STUDI/O device, Select Properties for My Computer. Under the Device Manager tab, expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers tree and select the STUDI/O Audio Device and press Remove. Then, remove the release files (listed in the Installation section of this document) from your Windows SYSTEM directory. In your Windows INF\OTHER directory, delete any .INF files associated with Sonorus. Then, POWER DOWN the PC and when you reboot it will automatically detect the STUDI/O card (calling it a multimedia device) and prompt you for the driver disk. Either install a driver floppy disk or browse to the hard disk subdirectory with the driver release, and the STUDI/O software will be installed. If you are getting clicks in the audio, check that the STUDI/O clocks are configured properly. For example, if an external device (e.g. ADAT) is set up using an internal clock, the STUDI/O board must be configured to lock to that clock rather than using one of its internal clocks. Note that STUDI/O-based systems are very flexible and many different clock and equipment combinations are possible. Maintaining proper synchronization and/or using the on-board sample rate converter are details you must consider when setting up STUDI/O and external equipment. If you have access to the World Wide Web, check out http://sonorus.com for answers to frequent asked questions (FAQ's), example configurations, and other product info. If you are getting 'loss of realtime' errors (in our error window), or dropouts, or your audio editor is mysteriously dropping out of play/record, suspect your video card. In your System control panel, under Advanced, click the Graphics... button and turn graphics acceleration all the way down. Many video cards out there hog the PCI bus in order to excel in magazine review benchmarks. See our web site for more pointers and links on how to tame your video. And if all else fails, read the manual! Thank you and good night. (C)1997 Sonorus, Inc.Download Driver Pack
