PocketJet 3Plus Configuration Program
Version 2.1
4/5/06

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Installation Instructions:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Double-click on PJ3plusConfigSetup.EXE and follow the on-screen instructions.
2) Once installed into the directory of your choice, you may run the Configuration
program by running:
"StartMenu -> Pentax PocketJet 3plus -> PocketJet 3plus Configuration".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. What is the purpose of the Configuration Program?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The configuration program allows the user to modify the printer's default behavior.

Most of the settings only affect the usage of the printer outside of a Windows,
Mac, PDA, or Linux environment, with a device which may not have a driver available,
but sends either ASCII text or ESC/P data. Devices of this nature are the primary
devices for which this configuration program was designed.

However, 3 of the controls will potentially be of interest to ALL users:

1) Auto-On: This controls the way the printer powers on, and whether the main power
switch is used to do this or if it happens automatically when power is supplied.
Default is "Disabled" so that the main power button is used.

2) Auto-Off: This controls the BATTERY TIMEOUT value. The setting affects the amount
of "idle time" before the printer powers itself off to conserve battery power.
   Default is 10 minutes.

3) Pre-Feed: This controls whether the printer advances the paper slightly when the
power is turned on, if paper is found in the printer.
   Default is "Enabled".

For users with the Bluetooth printer model, the configuration utility allows you to set
the Bluetooth PIN code.

See the User Guide for more detailed information.

C. Revision History
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Version 2.1 (4/5/2006)
---------------------------------
* To solve a battery charging problem with non-Bluetooth PJ3Plus, which are set by default
to always discharge the battery before charging it, send a command to disable battery
discharge during a Test Page, a Factory Reset, and a Save Config. Note that this does
not affect the battery life, and it will allow batteries to be charged more quickly.

Version 2.0 (9/7/2005)
---------------------------------

* Fixed bug related to values sent to printer during Save Config (and displayed in dialog)
for the various TEXT LINE SPACING modes.
* Fixed bug related to BOTTOM MARGIN when "standard" papersizes are used
* Added support for Bluetooth Printer model, to allow setting the PIN code
* Added support for Serial Printer model, to allow setting serial communication parameters.
* Fixed Firmware Upgrade option to handle the USB serial number.
It is possible now to preserve the existing serial number or to generate a new one.
* Fixed Font Upload option to properly upload a Pentax-supplied font file.
* DISABLED both the "Upgrade Firmware" and "Upload Font" buttons. Users must
contact Pentax to obtain a version with these features enabled.

Version 1.0 (11/5/2004)
-----------------------
Original release version.

Known Issues:
1) Firmware upgrade option does not add a Serial Number. However, this is not critical
as there is not a new firmware level available to upgrade to anyway.
