   Windows 2003

   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to install Windows 2003
   driver for Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet adapter.

   Location of Driver :   \WXP_2003\RTLNIC51.SYS

Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows 2003 :
   -------------------------------------------------------------------
      Before you start with the installation process, make sure that your
      adapter should be properly installed in your PCI bus slot.
      Executing Windows 2003, it will auto-detect your system
      configuration and find the adapter hardware.  

    1. Windows 2003 will install built-in driver "Realtek RTL8139
       Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC" automatically.

    2. Restart your computer, then you can update the newer driver from
       the provided Driver Diskette.

    3. Double click button on "System" icon from "Control Panel".

    4. Double click the "Device Manager" in "Hardware" dialog box.

    5. Windows 2003 will prompt all device groups in your computer, please
       select "Network Adapter" group.

    6. Double click the "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC"
       device from "Network Adapter" group.

    7. Click "Driver" button in "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet
       NIC Properties " dialog box.

    8. Click "Update Driver ..." button
 
    9. From "Hardware Update Wizard" window, please choose "Install from
       a list or specific location(Advanced)" then click Next button.

   10. Insert the Realtek RTL8139 driver disk into drive A and specify
       the setup file pathname A:\WXP_2003 in the "Hardware Update Wizard"
       dialog box, then click "Next" button.

   11. Windows will prompt "Realtek RTL8139/810X Family PCI Fast Ethernet
       NIC".

   13. Click "Finish" button in the "Hardware Update Wizard" dialog
       box.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
