W940ND.SYS is a NDIS 3.x driver for Windows 95. If there exists only one 940 card, the driver will automatically get IOBASE and IRQ from PCI Configuration Space. If there exists more than oen 940 cards, user can indicate a specified 940 card by inputing IDs. 2. W940ND.INF is a Network Setup Information File for Windows 95 Platform. Installation: 1. Plug Winbond W89C940 card into one of the PCI slots of your PC. 2. Turn power on then boot from Windows 95. 3. If Windows 95 prompts PCI Ethernet Controller in New Hardware Found dialog box, then please follow below steps to install driver : 1) Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" from New Hardware Found dialog box, then click OK button. 2) Insert this driver diskette into drive A:, type the path A:\WIN95 and click the 'OK' button. 3) When the 'Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Adapter' dialog box appears, press <Enter>. 4) If more than one 940 cards are installed on your computer, select a specified 940 card by inputing Ethernet ID. Select the 'Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Adapter' item in the 'Network' Dialog Box. Click the 'Advanced' Button. Select the 'Selected Etherent ID' item. Type the Ethernet ID. Click the 'OK' Button. 5) Follow screen instructions to complete the process. 4. Restart your computer. Usage: 1. Boot your computer. 2. If want to change the setting of early interrupt function of this driver, please refer step 2 to step 11 in the Installation section. 3. If more than one 940 cards are installed on your system, select a specified 940 card to load. (refer to step 2 to step 11 in the Installation section) Trouble Shooting: 1. Message: 'Your network adapter Winbond W89C940 PCI Ethernet Adapter[0000] is not working properly. You may need to set it up again. For more information, see the Network Troubleshooter in Windows Help.' Solution: Make sure that your W89C940 card is plugged into your system. 2. Condition: The Windows 95 can not boot normally. Solution: Make sure that your W89C940 PCI card is connected to the cable.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
