Configuration Supplement - 3Com 3C359-MBA v3.20 This document contains information and issues specific to this MBA ROM and supported network adapters. Please refer to your MBA User Guide for general information on installing and configuring the MBA for your networking environment. Adapters Supported ================== 3Com PCI Bus Mastering TokenLink Velocity (3C359, 3C359B) Token Ring adapters. Source Routing ============== Source routing allows a node to communicate with another node on a remote Token Ring segment via a source routing bridge. You must enable source routing on the MBA ROM if the boot client and the boot server are on opposite sides of a source routing bridge. Use the MBACFG utility to change the source routing option (Disabled/Enabled). * The PXE protocol does not support source routing. * The BOOTP protocol does not support source routing. * ROUTE.NLM must be loaded on the NetWare server to enable source routing. To circumvent any remoteboot problem in source routing environments, you must place both the boot server and the boot client on the same side of the source routing bridge if the ROM is configured to use either the PXE or TCP/IP-BOOTP protocol. NetWare ======= - Boot image files Older boot image files containing RPLODI.COM do not work with this version of MBA. You must create a NetWare pre-loaded boot image file by running IMGGEN with the /L switch. Example: IMGGEN /L A: 3C359B.SYS. A pre-loaded boot image is copied to a RAM drive before it's executed. You must manually remove the RAM drive from memory by running FREEMEM.COM. Normally, this is done immediately after the login process in completed. If you are using Lanworks' Image Editor (IMGEDIT.EXE) to create the boot image file then you must select the Pre-loader option. - RPL.NLM The MBA ROM does not support the NetWare RPL.NLM remoteboot service. The boot process will fail if RPL.NLM attempts to service the MBA RPL requests. This means that RPL.NLM must not be loaded on the NetWare server if the ROM is configured to use the RPL protocol. Compaq DeskPro 2000 =================== The MBA ROM fails to initialize on warm reboots or resets. IBM Intellistation and NetFinity computers ========================================== Bus mastering must be enabled for the ROM to make a successfully connection to the network.Download Driver Pack
