                 Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Support
                 

1.  INTRODUCTION

    This file contains the manual driver installation instructions for an 
    extraction of the following Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel 
    Support files:

    - Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Filter Driver
    - Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Array Class Driver
    - Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Host Controllers SCSI Miniport 
      Driver 

2.  MANUAL DRIVER INSTALLATION

    2.1 Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Filter Driver

        To install the Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Filter Driver 
        manually instead of installing the component package, follow these 
        steps:

         1. Start Windows 2000 and log on as an administrator.

         2. From the Start menu, point to Settings and select Control Panel.

         3. Select Add/Remove Hardware, then click Next.

         4. Check Add new hardware, then click Next.

         5. Select Add/Troubleshoot a device, then click Next.

         6. Select Add a new device from the list of devices, then click Next.

         7. Check No. I want to select the hardware from a list, then click 
            Next.

         8. Highlight SCSI/ARRAY controller and click Next.

         9. Click Have Disk. Click Browse on the Install from Disk screen.

        10. Double-click the CPQFCFTR folder and select CPQFCFTR. Click Open 
            and click OK to confirm the driver, then click Next.

        11. Click Next again, then click Cancel.

        12. Click Finish on the Hardware Task Status screen.

        13. Reboot your system.

    2.2 Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Array Class Driver
     
        To update the Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Array Class Driver 
        manually instead of installing the component package, follow these 
        steps:

         1. Start Windows 2000 and log on as an administrator.

         2. From the Start menu, point to Programs and select Administrative 
            Tools.

         3. Click Computer Management.

         4. Expand Systems Tools by clicking on the + sign.

         5. Click Device Manager.

         6. Expand Others by clicking on the + sign.

         7. Double-click the COMPAQ ARRAY CONTROLLER SCSI Array Device entry.

         8. Select the Driver tab.

         9. Click Update Driver to invoke the Update Device Driver Wizard and 
            click Next at the introduction screen.

        10. Check Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended) 
            and click Next.

        11. Check the box next to Specify a location. Clear the box next to 
            Floppy disk drives and CD-ROM drives, then click Next. Click 
            Browse and search for the location where you previously copied 
            the CPQFCAC folder.

        12. Double-click the CPQFCAC folder and select CPQFCAC. Click Open 
            and click OK to confirm the driver. The Driver File Search screen 
            displays.

        13. If the path to the driver that you specified in step 12 is 
            displayed, click Next and proceed to step 16. Otherwise, proceed 
            to step 14.

        14. Check the box labeled Install one of the other drivers, then 
            click Next.

        15. Choose the entry that specifies the location of the CPQFCAC.SYS 
            driver, then click Next.

        16. Click Yes on the Digital Signatures Not Found screen, then click 
            Yes on the Confirm File Replace screen.

        17. Click Finish after the driver is copied to the hard drive.

        18. Reboot your system.


    2.3 Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Host Controllers SCSI Miniport 
        Driver

        To update the Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Host Controllers SCSI 
        Miniport Driver manually instead of installing the component package, 
        follow these steps:

         1. Start Windows 2000 and log on as an administrator.

         2. From the Start menu, point to Programs and select Administrative 
            Tools.

         3. Click Computer Management.

         4. Expand Systems Tools by clicking on the + sign.

         5. Click Device Manager.

         6. Expand SCSI and RAID Controllers by clicking on the + sign.

         7. Double-click the Compaq Fibre Channel Host Controller entry.

         8. Select the Driver tab.

         9. Click Update Driver to invoke the Update Device Driver Wizard and 
            click Next at the introduction screen.

        10. Check Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended) 
            and click Next.

        11. Check the box next to Specify a location. Clear the box next to  
            Floppy disk drives and CD-ROM drives, then click Next. Click 
            Browse and search for the location where you previously copied 
            the CPQFCALM folder.

        12. Double-click the CPQFCALM folder and select CPQFCALM. Click Open 
            and click OK to confirm the driver. The Driver File Search screen
            displays.

        13. If the path to the driver that you specified in step 12 is 
            displayed, click Next and proceed to step 16. Otherwise, proceed 
            to step 14.

        14. Check the box labeled Install one of the other drivers, then 
            click Next.

        15. Choose the entry that specifies the location of the CPQFCALM.SYS
            driver, then click Next.

        16. Click Yes on the Digital Signatures Not Found screen, then click 
            Yes on the Confirm File Replace screen.

        17. Click Finish after the driver is copied to the hard drive.

        18. Reboot your system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
