             Installation Guide for Remote Boot-ROM (RPL)

Introduction
============
    This document describes the procedure to use the Remote Boot-ROM 

Installation Procedures
=======================

    1. Make a bootable diskette, place that diskette into floppy driver A.

    2. Copy the required files to that diskette, for example, "HIMEM.SYS",
       "EMM386.EXE", "COMMAND.COM" ....

    3. Copy "LSL.COM", "DC21X4.COM", "IPXODI.COM", "NETX.EXE" (or "VLM.EXE"
       and all VLM files) to that diskette.

    4. Create "AUTOEXEC.BAT", "CONFIG.SYS" and "NET.CFG" files.

    5. Login NetWare as supervisor.

    6. Execute following commands :

        MAP G:=SYS:SYSTEM <Enter>
        MAP F:=SYS:LOGIN <Enter>

    7. Change to the F drive, then Execute following command :

        G:DOSGEN <Enter>

    8. If your DOS version is 5.0 or higher, execute following command :

        RPLFIX NET$DOS.SYS <Enter>

    9. Copy "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file from the boot diskette to the LOGIN directory.

   10. At NetWare Server console, execute following commands:
       (Supposing server use DC21X4 PCI adapter)

        : load DC21X4 frame=Ethernet_802.2
        : bind IPX to DC21X4
        : load RPL
        : bind RPL to DC21X4   (Choosing Ethernet_802.2 frame type)

   11. Last, restart workstation using remote BootROM function to connect
       NetWare Server.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
