Driver Installation Guide for Windows 95 ****************************************** Introduction ============ This document describes the procedure to install NDIS 3.0 driver on MS Windows 95. This driver conforms to the Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS 3.0) defined by Microsoft. Installation procedure ====================== The DC21X4 based adapters are autodetected by Windows 95. To install the driver follow the menu driven driver's installation. If You want to install the driver by self, follow steps below : 1. When log into Windows 95, click on the "Start" icon ,then move the mouse to "Settings" icon and click on the "Control Panel". 2. In the Control Panel window, click on the "Network" icon. 3. If DC21X4 based adapters are autodetected by Windows95, you must remove the DC21X4 based adapters from Windows95. Do the follow a. In the Network Configuration dialog box, select the adapter name, and choose 'Remove' button. b. Choose 'OK' button. c. In System Settings Change dialog box, don't restart your PC, select 'No' button. 4. In the Network Configuration dialog box, choose the "Add.." button. 5. When the Select Network Component Type dialog box appears, select "Adapter" icon and then press "Add" button. 6. In the Selected Network adapters dialog box, Choose the "Have disk" button. 7. Insert the driver diskette into drive A or B. 8. When the Install From Disk dialog box appear, specify the driver path (A:\WIN95 or B:\WIN95) and then choose "OK" button. 9. Select your option [Digital DC21X4 10/100Mbps network adapter] from the dialog box, then select OK. 10. The Windows 95 OS begin to copy driver from diskette and some system files from Windows 95 installation CD or diskette. 11. Then, you will see adapter list that you had been selected in the Network Configuration dialog box, select it and then click on the "Properties" button. 12. In this dialog box, select "Resources ",the screen will come up with settings. Make sure the values that match you want. 13. Shutdown your system. 14. Turn the power off. 15. Restarting your system you will acquire network service. NOTE: It is recommended to turn the power off before restart your system. InterruptThreshold = {number_of_interrupt/second} (default: 500) Maximum number of interrupt/second allowed before the Receive and Transmit interrupts get masked. Meaningfull only when InterruptMitigation is enabled. FrameThreshold = {number_of_frame/second} (default: 400) Minimum number of processed frame/second allowed before the Receive and Transmit interrupts get unmasked. Meaningfull only when InterruptMitigation is enabled. MapRegisters = {4,8,16,32,64} Number of map registers allocated by the adapter. MemoryReadMultiple = { Disabled | Enabled } (DC21142, DC21143only) Enable/disable PCI Memory_Read_Multiple command. MRM should be enabled when the DC21X4 is connected to the TI1130 PCI/CardBus bridge. NwayProtocol = { Enabled | Disabled } (DC21041 and DC21142 Rev1.0,1.1 only) Enable/disable the 10BT/10BT_Full Duplex Nway medium negotiation in Autosense mode. ReceiveBuffers = {8..64} Number of buffers allocated by the driver in the Receive ring. StoreAndForward = {Enabled|Disabled} (DC21140 only) Select the StoreAndForward mode if high PCI latencies causes 100Mbps Transmit Underruns CSR6<SF> 1 Enabled 0 Disabled TransmitThreshold = {value} Transmit Threshold values for 10Mbps media CSR6<TTM,TR> 72 bytes 96 bytes 128 bytes 160 bytes TransmitThreshold100 = {value} (DC21140 only) Transmit Threshold values for 100Mbps media. Meaningless when StoreAndForward is set CSR6<TTM,TR> 128 bytes 256 bytes 512 bytes 1024 bytes SnoozeMode = {Enabled|Disabled} (DC21041 only) CFDA<SM> 0 Disabled 1 Enabled UnderrunRetry = {2,4,6,8} Maximun number of retransmission attempts of an underrun packet. UnderrunThreshold = {10,20,50,100} (21140,21142,21143 only) Maximun number of underrun occurences before the controller switches to StoreAndForward mode.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
