Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Broadcom 802.11g network adapter drivers for the Gateway 200ARC, M250, M360, and 6000 Series notebook computers in Windows XP or Windows 2000.  
 


Identification

If you have a Gateway 200ARC, M250, M360, or 6000 Series computer and are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, install these drivers.


Installation

Download and double-click the file (D00268-001-002.exe).  Files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\D00268-001-002 folder on the hard drive.

1.  From the Start menu, click Run. 

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\D00268-001-002\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

4.  The driver installs.

5.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.

6.  Click Finish to restart the computer. 


Removal

Windows XP

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, select BCM Wireless Network Adapter, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Confirm Removal dialog box, click OK.

5.  The driver files remove.

6.  Close Add or Remove Programs.

7.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.  

8.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

9.  In Device Manager, select Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, and then on the Driver tab, click Uninstall. 

Windows 2000

1.  From the Start menu, click Settings and then Control Panel. 

2.  In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, select BCM Wireless Network Adapter, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Confirm Removal dialog box, click OK.

5.  The driver files remove.

6.  Close Add/Remove Programs.

7.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.  

8.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

9.  In Device Manager, select Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, and then on the Driver tab, click Uninstall. 


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then reinstall the drivers.

This utility supports required Windows wireless OIDs for zero configuration and administration.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
