            FORMATTING PD MEDIA USING WINDOWS 95
=========================================================================

There are two format types available for PD media when using Windows 95.

   - SFD (Super Floppy Disk, also known as DOS/Windows format)
   -  FDISK FAT

Windows 95 format will do the following:

   - Format an unformatted disk as SFD
   - Re-format a SFD formatted disk as SFD
   - Re-format a FDISK FAT formatted disk as FDISK FAT

A utility called PDTOOLS.EXE is required to format an unformatted disk
or an SFD formatted disk as FDISK FAT, see note below. We recommend using
FDISK FAT format whenever possible for compatibility purposes.

* NOTE: At this writing, the utility called PDTOOLS.EXE is unavailable.*
* Please check the IBM PC Company BBS at (919)517-0001, directory 21, *

* availability of this utility. *

Below is a matrix showing the different operating systems and the formats
supported by each operating system. If your data disks are to be shared
with computers using an operating system different than your own, please
refer to this matrix for compatibility.
