INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS NT 4.0
=========================================================================

Do not attempt to install the PD/CD-ROM drivers from the Windows NT
installation diskettes/program. After Windows NT is completely
installed, follow these steps and install the PD/CD-ROM drivers from the
Windows NT "Setup" menu.

If you wish to add the PD/CD-ROM option to your 6589 system,
you must first delete the bus master files from the system. Delete
the file "\winnt40\system32\drivers\piixide.sys."

Many of the menus and options that you will be using to install the
ATAPI PD/CD-ROM device driver refer to SCSI adapters and devices. Please
follow these menus as directed in the following steps to successfully
install the ATAPI PD/CD-ROM in your system.

1. Be sure to close any running applications before installing the PD/CD-
ROM device driver.

2. Open the "My Computer" and double click on the "Control Panel" icon.

3. Double click on the "Devices" icon.

4. Verify that the Startup setting for "Atdisk" and "atapi"
are set to "Disabled". If not currently "Disabled", select the "Atdisk"
from the dialogue box, select the "Startup" button, select "Disabled"
from the "Startup Type" menu and select "OK". Select "Yes" to confirm
the change. Repeat these steps to disable the "atapi".

NOTE: If a previous version of the ATAPI PD/CD-ROM is currently installed
in your system, it must also be "Disabled" following the
      instructions in step 4.

5."Close" the "Devices" menu.

  ****************************************************************************
  * NOTE: If you at any time remove the PD/CD-ROM Driver from your system, *
  * you must change the "Atdisk" status to "Boot" or your system will *
  * hang when re-booting. This can be reset to "Boot" by following the *
  * operations in step 4 and selecting "Boot" instead of "Disabled" *
  * from the "Startup Type". *
  ****************************************************************************

6. From the "Control Panel" double click on the "SCSI Adapters" icon.

7. Select the "Drivers" tab. If the "Atdisk" or the "atapi" drivers are
listed, "Disable" them by repeating steps 3 through 6.
If they are not listed, proceed to step 8.

8. Click on the "Add..." button in the "SCSI Adapters" window. The
"Install Driver" window will open.

9. Click on the "Have Disk" button, insert the device driver diskette
into your floppy disk drive, change the path from "A:\" to "A:\NT\40",
then select "OK".

10. Choose "ATAPI PD/CD-ROM Driver", select "OK".

11. If a previous version of the driver has been installed, select "New"
driver button.

12. Change the path shown for the "OEM SCSI Adapter File" to read
"A:\NT\40".

13. Select "Continue".

14. Remove your device driver diskette and select "Yes" to restart your
system. Your system will now boot up with both the PD and CD-ROM
available.
