========================================================================= PD/CD-ROM DEVICE DRIVER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDOWS NT 3.51 ========================================================================= This software package is for the installation of the IBM ATAPI PD/CD-ROM device drivers under Windows NT 3.51. This package consists of the following seven files. ATAPIPD.SYS OEMSETUP.INF ATAPIPD.TAG TXTSETUP.OEM PDTOOLS.EXE README.TXT (Device Driver Installation Instructions) README2.TXT (Media Formatting Instructions) ========================================================================= INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR WINDOWS 3.51 ========================================================================= Do not attempt to install the PD CD-ROM drivers from the Windows NT installation diskettes/program. After Windows NT is completely installed, follow these steps and install the PD/CD-ROM drivers from the Windows NT "Setup" menu. Many of the menus and options that you will be using to install the ATAPI PD/CD-ROM device driver refer to SCSI adapters and devices. Please follow these menus as directed in the following steps to successfully install the ATAPI PD/CD-ROM in your system. 1. Be sure to close any running applications before installing the PC/CD- ROM device driver. 2. Open the "Main Menu" and double click on the "Windows NT Setup" icon. 3. Select the "Options" menu and choose "Add/Remove SCSI Adapters..." All currently installed SCSI and ATAPI Adapters/Drivers will be listed in the dialogue box. If there are any currently installed ATAPI CD-ROM drivers or previously installed PD/CD-ROM drivers, they must be removed. To remove the drivers go to step 4. If no drivers are listed, skip to step 8. 4. Select the adapter that needs to be removed, probably called "IDE CD-ROM(ATAPI 1.2) Dual-Channel ATAPI PCI". 5. Click on the "Remove..." button. 6. Select "OK" to confirm removing a SCSI adapter. 7. Repeat steps 4 - 6 until all ATAPI and previous versions of the PD/CD-ROM device drivers are removed. 8. Click on the "Add..." button. 9. Select "OK" to confirm adding a SCSI adapter. 10. In the "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialogue box, select "Other(Requires disk from a hardware manufacturer)". 11. Insert your device driver diskette into your floppy drive and change the path name to "A:\NT\35". 12. Select "OK" to confirm. 13. In the "Select OEM Option" dialogue box, select "ATAPI PD/CD-ROM Driver". 14. Select "OK" to confirm. 15. In the "Select SCSI Adapter Option" dialogue box, select "ATAPI PD/CD-ROM Driver". 16. Click on the ""Install" button. 17. If a previous version of the driver has been installed, select the "New Driver" button then select "Continue". 18. "Close" the "SCSI Adapter Setup" window. 19. Exit the "Windows NT Setup". 20. Remove the device driver diskette from the floppy drive and re-boot your system. Your system will now boot up with both PD and CD-ROM available. **************************************************************************** * NOTE: When you try to read PD media, if you get this message: * * "The drive cannot find the sector requested", the PD media * * that you are using has been previously formatted for * * Super Floppy Disk (SFD) format. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
