Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the Multi-Function Keyboard drivers for the Gateway 400SD4 and Gateway 450SD4 in Windows 98, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.


Identification

If you have a Gateway 400SD4 portable computer and are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, or if you have a Gateway 450SX4 and are running Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 98, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2.  If not already done, locate and double-click the 7512422.exe file that you downloaded from the Internet.  This file should be located on your desktop.

3.  Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7512422 folder.

4.  From the Start menu, click Run. 

5.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\7512422\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

6.  In the next dialog box, to install the Multi-Function Keyboard, click Yes.

7.  Files copy.

8.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

9.  In the Readme Information dialog box, click Next.

10.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu click Control panel or point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3.  In the Add/Remove Programs window, select Gateway Multi-Function Keyboard, and then click Change/Remove.

4.  In the Gateway Multi-Function Keyboard dialog box, click Yes.

5.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.


Troubleshooting

If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers using the installation instructions in this document.

This is the initial release of the drivers.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
