---------------------

1.1 Mouse may behave inconsistently with a switch box

If you are using a switch box to allow the same mouse to control multiple computers, the mouse buttons or scroll wheel may behave erratically. To avoid such problems, connect the mouse directly to the computer. Make sure to turn off the computer first if you are connecting the mouse to a PS/2 port.

1.2 Previously installed mouse programs must be removed before running Setup

IntelliPoint software may not function properly if a different mouse program is installed. During IntelliPoint installation, Setup detects certain mouse programs and provides the option to disable or remove them. However, we recommend that you remove any previously installed mouse programs before running IntelliPoint Setup. For information about removing a program, see Windows Help.

1.3 Logging on as a Guest during Setup may result in an installation error

During Setup, you may need to restart the computer one or more times. Logging on as a member or the Guests group during the Setup process may result in an installation error. Setup requires that you are logged on as a member of the Administrators group.

1.4 Installing IntelliPoint 5.3 over a previous version of IntelliPoint software may not retain some customizations

If you are using a previous version of IntelliPoint software and you install IntelliPoint 5.3, you may lose some customizations, such as button reassignments. To fix this problem, you may need to update your mouse customizations after installing IntelliPoint 5.3.

1.5 IntelliPoint 5.3 may have different features than previous versions of IntelliPoint software

If you are using a previous version of IntelliPoint software, some features may not be available after you install IntelliPoint 5.3. IntelliPoint 5.3 may have different features than previous versions of IntelliPoint software.

1.6 Reassigned button commands may not work as expected for some programs or games

If you reassigned a button to a command that is different than its default command, the button may not work as expected in some programs or games. Some programs or games may not support the IntelliPoint customized button assignments.

1.7 Extra mouse buttons and IntelliPoint software features may not work as expected with Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop

Only the left and right (or primary and secondary) buttons on Microsoft mouse products are supported for use with Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000 Terminal Services or Windows XP Professional Remote Desktop. Other buttons (available on some Microsoft mouse products only) and IntelliPoint software features, such as customized button assignments, may not work as expected.

1.8 If IntelliPoint software is removed, clicking links from Microsoft Mouse Help do not start the software

During IntelliPoint software removal, there is an option to save the Microsoft mouse documentation to the Windows desktop. This documentation contains links to start IntelliPoint software, which provides enhanced features and additional tabs in the Mouse Properties dialog box. After IntelliPoint software is removed, the documentation links continue to open the Mouse Properties dialog box, without the IntelliPoint enhancements.

1.9 The settings for zoom and scroll are reversed for Microsoft Office Excel 2003

When "Zoom on roll with IntelliMouse" is selected in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, scrolling the wheel performs zoom functionality. Pressing the CTRL key while scrolling the wheel performs vertical scrolling functionality. The mouse buttons assigned to Zoom In and Zoom Out perform vertical scrolling functionality.

1.10 Layered windows cannot be enlarged by using the Magnifier

Layered windows, such as the Microsoft Windows Input Method Editor toolbar, cannot be enlarged by using the Magnifier.
