This is a new version of the AirLink CDPD Cell Wizard.
Updating your current Cell Wizard requires copying the software to your
PC and downloading the software to the Wizard GPS module.

1)  Rename your old Wizard diretory.

2)  Create a new directory called wizard.

3)  Extract all files from wiz0698.zip to the Wizard directory.

4)  Verify the system settings in wizard.ini.  Compare with the settings in
    Wizard.ini in your saved directory.


5)  If you purchased your modem before January, 1998, you need to replace the boot loader
 	in the Wizard modem.  If not, you may skip this step.

	To install the new boot loader into the modem:

		First, download the file "bootprog.zip" from our website at
		www.airlink.com/support/modems/index.html.
		
		Unzip bootprog.zip, and run bootprog.exe.

		From the main screen, select BOOTINIT and follow its instructions.

		When this is completed, select BOOTPROG and follow its instructions.

		When successful, exit this program.


6) To download the software to the GPS 9610 module:

   a) Start the new Wizard application with the Wizard GPS module attached.

   b) From the menus, select Setup->Configure Modem->Download Modem Firmware.

   c) You will be prompted with a dialog box saying,
   		'To Download Firmware to Wizard, Please Select Run on AppProg Screen, then Power Cycle the Wizard'
	  Select Run.
	  Turn the Wizard module off and then on again.
	  If AppProg does not finish properly, select Cancel, turn the Wizard module off, select Run,
	    then turn the Wizard module back on.
   	
   	  When the firmware is downloaded properly, appprog exits and returns to the Wizard.

     to other M-ESs in Protocol Analysis window.

10)  Successful Utilization now reflects all uplink traffic on the channel stream.

11)  Fixed BLER display and logging.

12)  Fixed power level logging.

13)  Simplified getting out of AMPS scan state.

14)  Added color codes to adjacent cell window.  Unknown color codes are displayed as
     "?" instead of 255.


[March 17, 1997]

1)  Now save window size and location for next program execution.

2)  Added tenths of percent accuracy to block error rates, channel availability,
    and uplink success utilization.

3)  Increased number of cells stored in Wizard's cell configuration information base 
    from 64 to 350. 

4)  Increased maximum number of adjacent cells for any one cell from 12 to 16.

5)  Added reset buttons to PING and LOOPBACK status windows.  When reset is selected,
    the values will not be cleared until next iteration.

6)  Fixed problem with uplink Block error reporting.

7)  Fixed problem with SPI and WASI logging.

8)  Fixed Sync and Event fields in netmapNN.txt.

9)  Fixed occasional exception fault on program exit.

10) Fixed various display and special test mode transitions.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
