Updating the AirLink Raven/PinPoint Modems

This is the procedure to program the AirLink Raven/PinPoint modems with
the new application code.

The AirLink boot code must be resident in the
modem before AppProg can be used.

Files required:
appprog.exe - executable to load application hex file
appload.hxl - Application loader which is downloaded into the modem RAM
appload3.hxl - Application loader which is downloaded into the modem RAM
apploade.hxl - Application loader which is downloaded into the modem RAM
xxxxxxx.hex - modem application code to update the modem

1. Connect the COM port to be used to the Modem

2. Power on the Modem

3. Double-Click the AppProg icon

4. The "AppProg" window will appear. Select the desired parameters,
including choosing the correct type of modem that you're trying
to program (ie, Raven, PinPoint, or Redwing)

Note: The maximum Program Baud rate for the Raven II is 38400.

Note: If the directory shown under the "Hex Directory" button is not where
the *.hex file(s) can be found, click the button and browse to select
      the correct directory.

5. Click the "Run" button in the lower left part of the window

6. If the message:

"COM port busy, waiting for COM port ..."

appears in the log window, close any other applications that may be
    using the selected COM port.

7. One of the following messages will appear:

"Sending ATZ and waiting for modem reset character ..."
    or
"Waiting for modem reset character ..."

If no further messages appear within 10 seconds, power the
    modem off and back on.

If AppProg never advances beyond "waiting for modem reset character":

    - Check the cable connections
    - Check for that the correct COM port is selected
    - Verify that the boot sector has been updated.
(With a terminal emulation set at 9600,8n1 or 19200,8n1
you should see several miscellaneous characters and an "*"
when the modem is powered up.)

8. The successful sequence of messages will include:

      ------------------------------------------------------------
      Current EID : 0060D6 000894
      ------------------------------------------------------------
        Anchor Checksum Valid

      Programming
      Application firmware programming complete

The last message indicates successful completion of the
    application reprogramming.

9. Click the "Exit" button to close the AppProg window

Note: Once you have selected the desired parameters in the AppProg window,
you may save them in a configuration file (.cfg) by selecting
      menu "File/Save Config File".

Note: Configuration files may be selected automatically by adding the
name of the xxx.cfg file following the command AppProg.exe in
      a shortcut.
(AppProg.cfg is automatically selected if no .cfg file is designated
and if AppProg.cfg is present in the same directory as AppProg.exe)
