Updating the S727 BIOS:

Your method of flashing will depend upon your CURRENT BIOS core date.
The way in which you can determine your CURRENT BIOS core date is by
looking at the BIOS reference string that appears in the bottom left
corner of the screen during the memory count at power-up. This string is
separated into blocks with hyphens. The 5th block is your CURRENT core date.

If your CURRENT BIOS core date is 10/10/94, follow method 1.
If your CURRENT BIOS core date is 07/15/95, follow method 2.

Method 1(current BIOS is 10/10/94):
(This is assuming that the ROM BIOS date listed in the System Configuration
window is 10/10/94 and NOT 07/15/95 as this is what you are updating to.)

        a. Insert a bootable floppy diskette that contains the files:
's727p.rom', AMIFAUTO.COM, and 727UPDAT.BAT in the root directory
           of in Drive A:.
        b. Turn the system off.
        c. Move the shorting bridge (shunt) on motherboard jumper J45 to
           pins 2-3.
        d. Boot the system using the diskette in Drive A:.
        e. Type 727UPDAT and press <Enter> at the DOS prompt.
        f. Follow the instructions on the screen.
        g. The system will reboot after flashing the BIOS.
        h. Turn the system power off.
        i. Move the shorting bridge (shunt) on jumper J45 on the motherboard
           back to Pins 1-2.
        j. Turn the system power on.
        k. Press <Del> when the first AMIBIOS screen appears to run WINBIOS
           Setup.
        l. Make any necessary changes(start by loading the Optimal WINBIOS
Setup default settings). Press <Esc> and select Save Changes and
Exit. AMIBIOS will reboot the system again.

Method 2(current BIOS is 07/15/95):
(This is assuming that you already have the 07/15/95 core BIOS already installed
and that the ROM BIOS date in the System Configuration window states:
 7/15/95 and NOT 10/10/94)
        a. Insert a diskette with the new S727P.ROM file in the root
           directory of drive A.
        b. With the power off, hold down the <Ctrl> and <Home> keys.
        c. Turn system power on while continuing to hold <Ctrl> & <Home>.
        d. You will hear several beeps & after approximately 45sec. the BIOS
           should be flashed.
        e. The system should reboot.
        f. This procedure is described in Chapter 3 'Programming the Flash
ROM' in the American Megatrends Series 727 Atlas PCI-II Pentium
           ISA Motherboard User's Guide.
