Thank you for purchasing the Canon Image Scanner. ScanCraft CS-P 
supports the Canon CanoScan FB320P and CanoScan FB620P scanners under 
Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and
Windows Me.

This file contains new information and hints not included in the User's 
Guide and other materials.

It can be viewed or printed again in the future from its location in 
the ScanCraft CS-P directory.  Please take a moment to review the 
following information before using the Image Scanner.

A NOTE ABOUT TWAIN:
Since the TWAIN standard is being updated on a regular basis, and 
software application companies try to address these changes, you 
may occasionally experience some minor problems caused by applications 
that are not fully TWAIN compliant. Canon works closely with software 
manufacturers on compatibility issues to ensure user's a trouble-free 
experience.

Installation
------------

Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000:
On Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, it is required that the
administrator install the product. In case of the file system of
\winnt is NTFS on Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, the TWAIN modules
may not call. Due to the security issue, the TWAIN modules are not
able to write on the \winnt directory. Contact the administrator.


General Precautions
-------------------

Drag and drop is not supported.:
To open files, open ScanCraft CS-P, then select [File]/[Open].


File Formatting - General Precautions
-------------------------------------

CIELAB\Lab color mode is not supported.:
ScanCraft CS-P cannot open *.TIF files saved with the CIELAB option 
(Corel Photo-Paint 6.0) or in the Lab mode (Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 and 
4.0).

CMYK color mode is not supported.:
ScanCraft CS-P cannot open *.TIF or *.JPG images saved in the CMYK 
mode (Corel Photo-Paint 6.0, Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 and 4.0).


TWAIN - General Precautions
---------------------------

If the TWAIN user interface is hidden:
Depending on the application (e.g., Wang Imaging), the TWAIN user 
interface may be hidden.  If this is the case, find out how you can 
make it appear from the application manual, and make the appropriate 
setting changes.

The TWAIN user interface disappears after scanning for the first time.:
Depending on the application (e.g., Adobe PageMaker 6.0, Microsoft 
Publisher 3.0, Paint Shop Pro 3.12-32, Corel Photo-Paint 5.0), the 
TWAIN user interface may disappear after images are scanned.  

Image selection or enhancement is not possible.:
Depending on the application (e.g., Wang Imaging ), enhancements and 
selections made by the TWAIN user interface may be deleted, to be 
replaced by the original image from the scanner.


Problems with the Application
-----------------------------

Aldus PageMaker 5.0:
ScanCraft CS-P does not support Aldus PageMaker 5.0.

Canon Creative ColorStore:
When scanning images at 360 dpi or more, you may experience problems 
with the TWAIN data source in ColorStore.  Select 75, 150, 180, 200 or 
300 dpi as the image resolution.

Microsoft PictureIt!:
Do not use the Smart Task Scan function; use the Custom Scan function. 
The Custom Scan function lets you use the ScanCraft CS-P user interface, 
allowing images to be easily previewed and selected.

The application Imaging for Windows 95 (also known as Wang Imaging) may 
hang during a scan.  Download an updated version.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
