README file for the SNMP agent extension implementing the
INTEL-LAN-ADAPTERS MIB.
Overview:
---------
The SNMP agent extension extends the UCD-SNMP agent for Linux. It
provides information on the Intel PRO Lan adapters (10/100/1000),
through the adapter drivers (e100, e1000). It also provides information
on advanced features, including teaming and VLANs, through the Advanced
Networking Services (ANS) module.
Pre-Requisites:
------------
The SNMP agent package will work best when the Intel PRO Lan adapter
drivers (e100, e1000) and/or the Intel ANS module (ians) are installed
and loaded on the system. However, the package will work with any
combination of the 3 modules mentioned above.
Installation:
-------------
There are three choices available for the installation of the
inic-UCD-SNMP package. The first two are for "Managed Stations"
(running the agent). The third is for the installation of the
"Mangagement Stations" (running MIB browsers/applications).
1. Installing the RPMs.
The Provided RPMs were prepared for Red Hat* 7.0 and as a replacememnt
to the UCD-SNMP-4.1.2-8.i386.rpm, UCD-SNMP-utils-4.1.2-8.i386.rpm and
UCD-SNMP-devel-4.1.2-8.i386.rpm packages.
1.1 If you have the UCD-SNMP-{,utils-,devel-}4.1.2-8.i386.rpm
currently installed in your system, you need to uninstall them issuing
the command "rpm -e UCD-SNMP UCD-SNMP-utils UCD-SNMP-devel". (First,
save the "/etc/SNMP/SNMPd.conf" configuration file.)
1.2 Install the inic-UCD-SNMP RPMs issuing the command
"rpm -i inic-UCD-SNMP-*-4.1.2-8.i386.rpm" in the directory where the
inic-UCD-SNMP RPMs reside.
2. Installing from the UCD-SNMPd source tree.
This installation procedure is intended for users who need to
compile their own SNMP agent. (Users running a Linux
distribution unsupported by the RPM packaged pre-compiled agent
provided, or users who need to extend/tailor their SNMP agent with
additional MIBS for their own needs.)
2.1 Get UCD-SNMP-4.1.2.tar.gz clean original sources and the
inic-SNMP-X.X.X.tar.gz file. These files are available both from the
web and the bundled software CD.
2.2 Follow the instructions in the "README.developer" file on
how to patch and compile the UCD-SNMP source code.
If you would like to load the SNMP agent on boot, use your favorite
setup tool ("ntsysv" on Red Hat Systems) to make sure that the SNMP
agent is loaded on boot.
3. Installing the Clients
Get the file mibs.tar.gz and open it. Copy the textual MIBs
(INTEL-Common-MIB.txt, INTEL-LAN-ADAPTERS-MIB.txt) to every management
station, placing them in the relevant mibs directory. (This will vary
according to the SNMP MIB browser/application you are using).

Funcionality:
-------------
The SNMP extension implements the following MIB branch.
The branch is located under the Intel branch at:

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
For more help, visit our Driver Support section for step-by-step videos on how to install drivers for every file type.
