Installing D-Link DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter
For Client 32 for Windows 95 Users

This document contains DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter installation notes,
which is not included in the DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter USER'S GUIDE
or onscreen instructions, for Client 32 for Windows 95 users.

1.0 Overview
------------

    To install DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter in the
    Client 32 for Windows 95 environment, you should have the Windows 95
    CD-ROM and the NOVELL Client 32 CD-ROM nearby.

2.0 Installation Notes For Client 32 for Windows 95 users
---------------------------------------------------------

    2.1 Update DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter Device Driver.
    --------------------------------------------------------
    * Because the INF file name has changed from ODI22X.INF to
      DE22X.INF in this version, if you have older DE22X series
      ODI driver in your system, please delete the old ODI22X.INF 
      file in \WINDOWS\INF subdirectory first.
		
    1. Assume your Windows 95 and Client 32 for Windows 95 system
       have been installed successfully.

    2. Please plug DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter in your system slot.

    3. Start Windows 95 system then will find the adapter and load
       "D-Link DE220 ISA PnP LAN adapter" driver automatically.

    4. In the "System Settings Change" window,
       click on the [No] button.

    5. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon.

    6. In the "My Computer" window,
       double-click on the "Control Panel" icon.

    7. In the "Control Panel" window,
       double-click on the "Network" icon.

    8. In the "Network" window, select
       "D-Link DE220 ISA PnP LAN adapter".

    9. Click on [Remove] button to delete the old driver.
       Then click on the [OK] button.

   10. In the "System Settings Change" window,
       Click on the [No] button.

   11. Click on the [Start] button -> select Programs item ->
       click on the MS-DOS Prompt item.

   12. Change the directory to C:\WINDOWS\INF in "MS-DOS Prompt" window.
       In some systems C:\WINDOWS\INF is hidden.
       It is still possible to change to the directory.

       Example:
                C:\WINDOWS>cd inf

   13. Using any text editor program, modify the NETNOVEL.INF file

       Example:
                C:\WINDOWS\INF>edit netnovel.inf

   14. Locate the "%V_DLink%=DLink" line in the netnovel.inf file,
       and add one semicolon(;) at the front of this line.

   15. Save the file and quit from the text editor program.


   16. Restart Windows 95 system then will found the adapter.

   17. In the "New Hardware Found" window,
       click on the "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer"
       item. Then click on the [OK] button.

   18. In the "Install From Disk" window, specify the full path of the
       driver.

       Example:
                A:\NETWARE\32BITLAN

       Then click on the [OK] button.

   19. Restart Windows 95 system again and connect to Netware server.


    2.2 Install For Legacy ISA Adapter Or PnP Disable
    -------------------------------------------------
    1. Assume your Windows 95 and Client 32 for Windows 95 system
       have been installed successfully.

    2. Please plug DE-220 FamilyEthernet Adapter in your system slot.

    3. Start Windows 95 system.

    4. Double-click on "My Computer" icon.

    5. In "My Computer" window, double-click "Control Panel" icon.

    6. In "Control Panel" window, double-click "Network" icon.


    9. In the "Network" window, click on the [Add] button.
       The program prompts for the component type.

   10. Double-click on the "Adapter" item.

   11. Click on the [Have Disk...] button.

   12. Specify the full path of the driver.
       The program displays a network adapter list.

          Ex. A:\NETWARE\32BITLAN

       Then click on the [OK] button.

   13. Select "D-Link DE-220 Family Ethernet Adapter (Non-PnP mode)".
       Then click on the [OK] button.

   14. Specify the value for "Interrupt (IRQ):" and "I/O address range:".
       Then click on the [OK] button.

   15. Restart Windows 95 system and connect to Netware server.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
