    Installing LAN Drivers for Windows 2000
   ==========================================
This section describes the procedure to install Windows 2000 
drivers for Realtek RTL8139 PCI Fast Ethernet controller.     

1.  Executing Windows 2000 will auto-detect your system 
    configuration and find the Ethernet hardware.

2.  When asked to select the driver to install, select Driver from 
    disk provided by hardware manufacturer. 

3.  Insert the CD containing the Realtek RTL8139 drivers into the 
    CD-ROM drive and specify the setup file pathname as
    d:\lan\rtl8139x\win2000  (assuming D: is your CD-ROM drive.) 

4.  After the driver files are copied, Windows 2000 will appear with 
    a message to insert Windows 2000 system disk to complete setup.
    Do so accordingly.

5.  Windows 2000 will finish other installation procedure automatically
    and ask you to restart the system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
