Automatic installation using the LAN Manager Setup Program: a) Start the SETUP program. b) Select <Configuration> from the Main Menu. c) Select <Network Drivers> from the Configuration Menu. d) Remove the old adapter using <Remove Config>. e) Select <Add New Config>. f) Select <Other Driver> and follow the directions. b. Manual Installation for DOS LAN Manager If LAN Manager is already installed and configured and you do not wish to use the installation program, you have to perform the following steps manually: a) Create DC21X4 Driver directory <DRIVE>:\LANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\DC21X4 b) Copy the files \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\DC21X4\DC21X4.DOS and \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\DC21X4\PROTOCOL.INI to the new directory. c) Copy the file \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\DC21X4\DC21X4.NIF to the directory <DRIVE>:\LANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\NIF d) Add the following line to your CONFIG.SYS to load the driver: DEVICE=<drv>:\LANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\DC21X4\DC21X4.DOS e) Modify your PROTOCOL.INI file using any DOS Editor by appending the PROTOCOL.INI stub (included with this kit) to the end of your old PROTOCOL.INI file. The stub contains the following information: [DC21X4_NIF] DRIVERNAME=DC21X4$ f) Modify TCPIP_XIF & NETBEUI_XIF modules in the PROTOCOL.INI file by changing the value of the BINDINGS keyword from BINDINGS = driverlabel to BINDINGS = DC21X4_NIFDownload Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
