  ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

   (1) Introduction:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
This document describes the procedure to setup the NetWare V3.X, V4.X
workstation driver for 10/100 Base-TX PCI Bus Ethernet Adapter.

   (2) Location of Driver:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
                        \NWCLIENT\DOS\DC21X4.COM

   (3) Sample Configuration Files:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
      %%% STARTNET.BAT %%%
          LSL
          DC21X4
          IPXODI
          NETX or VLM

      %%% NET.CFG %%%
          LINK DRIVER DC21X4
              FRAME ETHERNET_802.2
              FRAME ETHERNET_802.3
              FRAME ETHERNET_II
              FRAME ETHERNET_SNAP
              RX_BUFFERS 5
              TX_THRESHOLD 4

   (4) Setup Procedures for NetWare Client Manually:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
Before you start with the installation process, make sure that
the adapter is properly installed and configured. Make sure that
your NetWare workstation operating system is properly installed.

      1. Copy DC21X4.COM from the Driver Diskette subdirectory
         A:\NWCLIENT\DOS to your hard disk.

      2. Create a batch file, or add to your STARTNET.BAT file the commands
         listed above under %%% STARTNET.BAT %%%.

      3. Edit the NET.CFG file that you copied over. Edit the file per your
requirements (see examples above). If there are two frame types
listed, whichever frame type is listed first, that is the one that
the driver will load. See above for examples. The NET.CFG file
should be in the same directory with LSL.COM file.

   (5) Setup Procedures for NetWare Client by INSTALL.EXE Utility:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
The installation utility INSTALL.EXE is located on NetWare's
"Workstation for DOS" disk. Run INSTALL.EXE from the Workstation
      for DOS Disk.

The NetWare Client Install program screen will appear. You must
complete each of the questions. These options are specific to your
      needs.

      1. Enter the destination directory for the NetWare Client.
         (The default directory is C:\NWCLIENT.)

      2. Gives you the option to automatically update the CONFIG.SYS
and the AUTOEXEC.BAT files or modify them at a later time manually.

      3. Do you wish to install support for MS Windows? (Y/N)
         (MS Windows Subdirectory: default C:\WINDOWS)

      4. Asks you to select a network driver and provide configuration
options. It uses the specifications you select to create the
file NET.CFG. Insert the Drivers diskette when prompted for
the driver disk and specify the driver path A:\NWCLIENT\DOS

      5. Press <Enter> to install

Note: If the adapter not work fine after installation, try to adjust
            TransmitThreshold and ReceiveBuffers.

   (6) Parameters:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
      1. BUS ID PCI 4
Forces the driver to search for the board on PCI bus only.

      2. SLOT 1
In PCI - Forces the driver to search for this board instance
                   (1 is First Board).

      3. TX_THRESHOLD 4
Setup the threshold value of transmit FIFO.
         0 - 72 bytes
         1 - 96 bytes
         2 - 128 bytes
         3 - 160 bytes
4 - 160 bytes in Tulip and Full packet in FasterNet 100Mbps.

      4. AUTOSENSE
Performs Power-Up Autosense on all types of boards in order to
connect to the active line, and dynamic 10/100 autosensing
(at run-time) on boards supporting it.

      5. TURBO
Disable PCI post write buffer in Intel PCI chipset which gives the
PCI bus higher priority over the other busses (EISA or ISA).

      6. TP
         Selects Twisted Pair interface.

      7. TP_FULL_DUPLEX
Selects Twisted Pair interface running in FullDuplex mode.

      8. RX_BUFFERS 5
Allows the user to select the amount of receive buffers to work with
(between 2 to F). More buffers means larger driver resident in
         memory but with higher performance.

      9. AUI
         selects AUI interface

     10. BNC
         selects BNC interface

     11. TP_No_Link_Test
Selects Twisted Pair interface. Transmit does not perform link pulses
         test.

     12. T4
         selects 100 Base-T4 interface
         (in conjunction with Line_Speed 100)

     13. Line_Speed 100
Selects the between 10MBps or 100MBps ports and line speed.
Default is 100MBps for the Fast Ethernet chip.

     14. SNOOZE
Change Chip's Power Management to Power-Saving mode.

   (7) NOTE:
   ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
      1. Be sure to add LASTDRIVE=Z to your CONFIG.SYS file for the
         network mappings to work properly.
