Overview

This is the Windows 9x, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP Home and Professional driver for Gateway USB and PS/2 multi-function/millennium keyboards. These drivers are certified with Microsoft WHQL.

Identification

The Gateway USB/PS2 multi-function/millennium keyboards have special keys other than the standard keys found on regular 104 keyboards. These special keys are programmed to control specific functions, such as controlling the sound volume, opening the default Internet browser, opening e-mail software, and so forth. The special key functions are programmed by this software. The Gateway keyboard part number is located on the label on the rear of the keyboard. These drivers should be used for the Gateway part numbers identified later in this document.

Installation

The installation of this software and drivers is basically the same for all operating systems. The installation begins by running the Setup.exe file. There are differences between operating systems, in that some of the features may not exactly be located in same place. However, the feature is available in all operating systems. Both PS2 and USB software is included in the archive.

1. Close all open windows, except this readme.txt file if instructions are needed.

2. If you have not already done so, locate and double-click the 7511568.exe file that you originally downloaded from the Internet. This file should be located on your desktop. Files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\7511568 folder.

3. From the Start menu, click Run.

4. In the Run dialog box, type the path and location of the Setup.exe file for the program and drivers to be installed. For example: C:\Cabs\7511568\PS2\Setup.exe or C:\Cabs\7511568\USB\Setup.exe.

Note: The directory path should correspond to the type of keyboard; PS2 or USB.

5. Click OK.

6. In the Keyboard Setup Welcome dialog box, click Next.

7. In the Start Installation dialog box, click Next.

8. In the Setup Results dialog box, select Restart my computer now, and then click Finish.

Removal

Removal of the Gateway PS2 or USB multi-function keyboard is basically the same for all operating systems. There are differences between operating systems, in that some of the features may not be located in same place. However, the feature is available in all operating systems. Each operating system has a Control Panel applet that contains an icon for Add/Remove Programs. From the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, the software and drivers for the multi-function keyboard can be successfully removed.

1. For nearly all operating systems, from the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

Note: In Windows XP, the Control Panel can be located on the Start menu.

2. In Control Panel, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

Note: If you do not see this icon, click view all Control Panel options, and then double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select the appropriate type of Millennium keyboard – PS2 or USB, and then click Add/Remove or Change/Remove.

Note: Change/Remove is the button title in Windows XP.

4. In the Millennium Keyboard Uninstall dialog box, click Yes.

5. In the Uninstall Results dialog box, click Finish.
