Description:

  1. W840S5.DST is a SCO UNIX 5.x NDSP(Network Driver Software Package).

This driver is allowed to install on 4 LAN cards with Winbond 840 chips.

This driver will automatically get IOBASE and IRQ of 840 chips from PCI
     Configuration Space.

If there are more 840 cards than the installed board number, this driver
will automatically select 840 cards to load.

If the installed board number is more than the 840 card number, this
driver will show warning messaage, and exits.

Installation:

  1. login as root user (on maintenance mode).

  2. use "custom" utility to install the 840 SCO 5.x software package.

     2.1 doscp a:/<path>/w840s5.dst /tmp/VOL.000.000.

     2.2 execute "custom" utility,

2.3 select "Software" item in the "Software Manager (custom) on
hostname" window to get into pull down menu,
move to "Install New...", then press [Enter] buttom,

          parameters:
          1. Burst Length:
             The default value is "BurstLength_is_32_longwords".
Burst Length defines the maximum number of long words that can be
transferred within one PCI burst transaction.
             The reasonable values are "BurstLength_is_1_longword",
             "BurstLength_is_2_longwords", "BurstLength_is_4_longwords",
             "BurstLength_is_8_longwords", "BurstLength_is_16_longwords", and
             "BurstLength_is_32_longwords".
          2. Cache Alignment,
             The default value is "CacheAlignment_is_32_longwords".
Cache Alignment defines the address boundary for data burst.
             The reasonable values are "CacheAlignment_is_8_longwords",
             "CacheAlignment_is_16_longwords" and
             "CacheAlignment_is_32_longwords".
          3. Transmit Threshold Value,
This value decides the transmit threshold level of the transmit
FIFO. Transmission will start immediately after the transmit FIFL
has reached the threshold level or full pkt has been transferred
to the transmit FIFO if the frame length is less than the transmit
             threshold level.
                        TxThreshold Transmit Threshold Level
                           00H full pkt
                           01H 16 bytes
                           02H 32 bytes

                           7FH 2032 bytes"
          4. Line Speed,
             The default value is "AutoDetect".
This adapter can be operationed in 10M or 100M Mbps.
The reasonable values are "AutoDetect"(auto detect line speed by
the driver), LineSpeedIs10M(set the line speed is 10M) and
LineSpeedIs100M(set the line speed is 100M).
          5. Full Duplex Function:
This adapter can be in half or full duplex mode. In half duplex
mode, the W89C840 can only either transmit or receive. In full
duplex mode, the W89C840 can transmit and receive at the same
             time.
The reasonable values are AutoDetect(auto detect full duplex
function by the driver), Disable(disable full duplex), and
             Enable(enable full duplex).

when you finish the settings, press [OK] buttom,
