README.TXT Driver File Contents (cdrom.exe)

The files included in this zip are all of the files that you
need in order to get CD-ROM support from Soundscape under Win 95.

These are real-mode drivers, not Win 95 native drivers, so you will
still need to run an autoexec.bat file and a config.sys file.

Here is how to install these drivers:

1. Copy all of the files included in this zip to your SNDSCAPE
	directory. If it asks you is you wish to overwrite
	the existing files, choose yes.

2. Run the CDINST.EXE program from this directory.
3. Choose the CD-ROM drive that you installed on your Soundscape.
	If you choose an IDE drive, you will need to manually
	insert an IDE driver line to your config.sys file.
	More instructions are to follow.

4. Choose the driver letter that you want your CD-ROM drive to be.
5. Click on "OK" and then "OK" again.

AT THIS POINT, DO NOT REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM.

6.  Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
7.  Change the line:
	c:\sndscape\mscdex.exe.......
	TO
	c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe.........

	The remaining parameters for this line should stay the same.

8. Save this file and exit

IF YOU CHOSE AN IDE CD-ROM DRIVE ABOVE, PLEASE CONTINUE. IF YOU CHOSE
ANYTHING ELSE, SKIP TO NUMBER 13

In order to get an IDE CD-ROM driver functioning on the Soundscape's IDE
interface, you will need a CD-ROM driver that supports programmable
baseport's. The only way to find this out is to try. If your CD-ROM
driver does not work, we have included a driver in this file that does support
programmable baseports. It may or may not work on your drive. The only way
to find out is to try. Here is a list of drives that we have tested it on and
found it to workon our IDE interface.

NEC 260 double speed (with NEC driver)
Mitsumi FX-400 quad speed (with Mitsumi driver)
Panasonic LK-MC579BP double (with Mitsumi device driver ver 1.1 only)
Sanyo CDR-S1G (with Mitsumi device driver ver 1.1 only)
Reveal CDQ-100, AKA NEC CDR-272 (with Mitsumi device driver ver 1.1 only)
Wearnes CDD-120A double speed, OEM to EPSON(with Mitsumi device driver ver 1.1 only)

9. Copy your CD-ROM drive's driver to the Soundscape directory
10. Edit you config.sys file and look for the line "c:\sndscape\sscd.sys...."
11. Right after this line, insert the following:
	device=c:\sndscape\****.sys /d:sscd_000 /p:338 /I:15
				or
	device=c:\sndscape\****.sys /d:sscd_000 /p:338,15

The "****" refers to the CD-ROM driver used by your CD-ROM drive

If you need to use the included CD-ROM driver, you will use the following line:
	device=c:\sndscape\mtmcdai.sys /d:sscd_000 /p:338,15

12. Save this file and exit
13. Reboot your PC

This should do the trick for you. If you have any further questions,
