Windows NT 4.0 Audio Driver for HP BIKUTSI Project

To check the version of the installed driver, please
follow one of the following 2 methods:
Method-1:
In the Registry Editor, double-click on HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE
then double-click on Software, then double-click on
Crystal Semiconductor the double-click on Crystal Audio,
the version of the driver will be displayed.
Method-2:
Right-click on the CWANTR0.SYS file provided with the
package, and click on the "version" tab.

[Installation]
To Install the Crystal Audio Driver, please follow one of
the following procedures:
Procedure 1:
1. Copy the driver files from the diskette to a directory
on the hard drive, or you may install from the floppy
diskette.
2. Double click the MULTIMEDIA icon in the control panel.
The Multimedia Properties windows will appear. Click on
the Devices tab and press the Add button.
3. Select "Unlisted or Updated Drivers" from the list of
drivers in the Add window by placing the mouse pointer
over it and clicking the left mouse button. Press the OK
button.
4. The Install Driver dialog box will appear and request
the path of the location of the drivers to be installed.
Enter A:\ if you are installing the driver from a floppy
disk. Otherwise, you may provide the location to the
driver files in your hard drive. Press the OK button.
5. The label "SoundFusion(tm)" is displayed on the dialog
box. Press OK to continue with the installation.
6. Windows NT will display a dialog box asking you to
restart your system. Press the Restart Now button to
complete the installation.
Procedure 2:
1. Copy the InstallSield files from the IS subdirectory on
the diskette to a directory on the hard drive, or you may
install from the floppy diskette.
2. Run Setup to install the driver and follow the
instructions through this process.
Please NOTE the following:
- For OS Pre-Load usage, and to install the driver silently
using the InstallShield Wrapper, please Run Setup
followed by /a /n or -a -n
- For End User usage, and to install the driver silently
using the InstallShield Wrapper, please Run Setup
followed by -n or /n

[UN-Installation]
1. Double click on the MULTIMEDIA icon in the control panel.
Select the Devices tab from the Multimedia properties
window.
2. Double click on the Audio Devices entry from the
Multimedia devices list. Select the driver by placing the
mouse pointer over the label "Audio for SoundFusion(tm)"
and clicking the left mouse button.
3. Press the REMOVE button.
4. A question box will appear to verify your decision.
Press the YES button.
5. WindowsNT will dislplay a dialog box asking you to
restart your system. Press the Restart Now button to
complete the Un-installation.

[Changes]
This the first official AC'97 Candidate driver released to
HP.

[Fixes]
1. Norwegian translations fix.
2. Suspend/resume fix when a modem is attached to the
   audio codec.
3. ACT 5.1 fixes.


[Known issues]
1. Media Player2 Mute minimizes volume control instead of
muting.
2. Muting mute on MP2 does not change the mute status for
wave on the Mixer panel
3. It is mandatory to reboot the system for every install
or uninstall of the driver.

[Known limitations]
1. No Music under NT4 unless CrystalWave is installed.
2. No mixing between wave and CrystalWave.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
