* PMTE  Power Management test shell

This test several device types in a system before and after each 
sleep state the system supports. You can do this manually from 
the menu or you can run one of the supplied scripts that will 
do this as many times as you specify automatically.


Currently it test the below device types.
 Disks
 CD-ROM
 Floppy
 Sound
 NET
 IRDA
 Serial with loopback
 Modems
 parallel port

* TO RUN A SCRIPT

Type Pmte
-Once the test started up select Run Test Script from the Test menu in 
 the PM Test Sell window. 
-Select a script 
-Type the number of times you want to do this for each selected sleep 
 state 
-Click ok.
Note that if you do not want to test all supported sleep states you 
can deselect them.

* TO RUN A SCRIPT FROM THE COMMAND LINE

Type 
Pmte /rs: <scriptName> <NumberOfTimes>

Look at bt.cmd for an excample of this.



* TO SKIP TESTING SOME OF THE DEVICE TYPES

To exclude one or more of the above devices types in testing use the 
/sdt: (skip device type) switch for each device type you want to skip.
For example to not test Serial/Modem  and FLOPPY devices types type 
the below.

Pmte /sdt:  COM  /sdt:  floppy

Other devices type that we can skip are

NET
IRDA
DISK
SOUND

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
