Installing The CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter Driver
This file describes the steps to install the CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet
Network Card which will allow your notebook PC to connect to the network.
Before You Install the Network Driver
Please make sure you know the network driver you should be using. The OS environments supported by this CardBus 10/100 Fast Ethernet Network Card are provided in the list below:
Windows 95
Windows NT version
Windows 98
Windows ME
Windows 2000
Windows XP
NetWare ODI Client
linux

Windows 95
Installation:
1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted.
2. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window
does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh.
3. Click Other Locations
4. Insert the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Choose the directory
"A:\win95" and click OK.
5. In the copying files window, type "A:\win95" and click OK.
6. If prompted, supply the Windows 95 CD-ROM or type the directory
path to the Windows 95 files on your PC and click OK.
7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish.
8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart the computer.

Windows 98
Installation:
1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted.
2. In the Add Hardware Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window
does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh.
3. Click the recommended item and Next.
4. Insert the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Type the directory
"A:\win98" and click OK.
5. In the copying files window, type "A:\win98" and click OK.
6. If prompted, supply the Windows 98 CD-ROM or type the directory
path to the Windows 98 files on your PC and click OK.
7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish.
8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart the computer.

Windows ME
Installation:
1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted.
2. In the Add Hardware Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window
does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh.
3. Click the recommanded item and Next.
4. Insert the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Type the directory
"A:\winme" and click OK.
5. In the copying files window, type "A:\winme" and click OK.
6. If prompted, supply the Windows ME CD-ROM or type the directory
path to the Windows ME files on your PC and click OK.
7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish.
8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart the computer.

Windows 2000
Installation:
1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted.
2. In the Add Hardware Device Driver Wizard window, click Next. If this window
does not appear, click System and then click Reflesh.
3. Click the recommanded item and Next.
4. Insert the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Type the directory
"A:\win2000" and click OK.
5. In the copying files window, type "A:\win2000" and click OK.
6. If prompted, supply the Windows 2000 CD-ROM or type the directory
path to the Windows 2000 files on your PC and click OK.
7. In the Update Device Driver Wizard, click Finish.
8. Remove the OEM diskette and restart the computer

Windows XP
1. Start the computer, insert the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card into a slot, make sure the card is securely
inserted into the socket. Windows XP will show "Found New Hardware".
This PC card uses ADMtek AN985 IC which has driver built-in Windows XP.
Windows XP will automatically install the driver. The driver can run ok, but without the function of ACPI
(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface).
If the user is satisfied with this driver, then the installation is completed. The user does NOT need to go
through following steps. Please restart the computer and the network function will be ready.
2. If the user wants to accommodate ACPI function into the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card. Then the user
needs to update the driver to which we support in the driver diskette. Please select "My Computer", then "Control
Panel" at part of other places, then "System", then "Hardware", then "Device Manager", then select "Network adapters"
and select "AMDtec AN985 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Adapter".
3. Click "Action" and then click "Properties".
4. In the properties window, select "Driver", and click "Update Driver".
5. Windows XP will show "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard". Click "Next" after choose "Install from a list or specific
location (Advanced)".
6. Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." and click "Next".
7. Click "Have Disk" after insert the driver disk.
8. Key in the driver location "A:\WinXP" in the Copy manufactuer's files from" box and click "OK".
9. The windows found the driver, choose one of the Network Adapter driver, and click "Next" to continue.
10. It could has not passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with Windows XP. Just click "Yes" to
continue the installation.
11. Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. After copying the driver files,
the device installation is completed, click "Finish".
12. Restart the computer and the 10/100 Fast Ethernet CardBus PC Card will be ready.

NetWare ODI Client
Installation:
1. Make sure that the 10/100 PC Card is inserted.
2. Check your system config config.sys. In order not to conflict with
emm386, remark the the line "device=c:\dos\emm386" as
"rem device=c:\dos\emm386"
or edit it as
"device=c:\dos\emm386 x=d000-d3ff"
And add "LastDrive" command. For example:
"lastdrive=M".
3. Save it and reboot your PC.
4. Insert the OEM diskette in the floppy drive. Choose the directory
"A:\nwclient".
5. Copy all files to your local directory.
6. Execute startnet.bat, and the driver is installed.
7. Get on NetWare Server. For example:

Packet Driver
PKTDRV.COM is the packet driver for the CardBus PC Card. Before
running PKTDRV.COM, please execute the CardBus PC Card enabler, CBOPEN.EXE.
PKTDRV syntax:
PKTDRV [-#] [-a] [-b] [-t] [-f] [-s] [-d] [-n] [-w] [-u] [-h] <PD_INT_NO>
where:
[-#] The "-#" option selects a specific CardBus PC Card when
there are multiple CardBus cards installed in the computer.
"-1" specifies the card in socket 0 which CBOPEN enabled. "-2"
specifies the card in socket 1 which CBOPEN enabled.
[-a] The "-a" option tells the driver to perform automatic media
detection during driver initialization.
[-t] The "-t" option tells the driver to use Twisted Pair (RJ-45)
(10BASE-T) as the transmission media.
[-f] The "-f" option enables the FULL_DUPLEX feature of the card.
It has effect only when Twisted Pair is used.
[-s] The "-s" option sets the link speed to 100 Mbps.
[-n] Your NOVELL server uses NOVELL ISO-like packets. Your NOVELL
workstation uses NOVELL 8137 packets. You can use this option
to convert NOVELL 8137 packets into NOVELL ISO-like packets.
[-w] Steve Wallace added a hack to let the packet drivers run under
Windows. This is not to be construed with the proper solution,
which is to write a TCP/IP package for Windows.
This hack is enabled only when you use the '-w' switch.
[-u] This option unloads the Packet Driver.
[-h] This option displays the on-line help.
<PD_INT_NO> This specifies the software interrupt (INT) where you'll
load the packet driver. It must be in the range 0x60 to 0x6F.
Notice!! The PC/TCP kernel, by default, is loaded at interrupt 0x61
(so don't load the packet driver there!)
Example:
The following command line loads the Packet Driver at software interrupt 60h,
and the transmission media is automatically detected. The I/O base address
and the IRQ value are read from the CardBus card's configuration space.
CBOPEN
PKTDRV -a 0x60 or PKTDRV 0x60
Note:
1) The default transmission media is automatic-detection.
2) Prefixing the parameters with 0x indicates that this is a
hexadecimal number.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
