                    Readme.txt file for DOS ODI Driver

This directory contains DOS ODI drivers to support Novell's Netware 3.x and 4.x
network operating system, it also contains directly enabler programs to enable
the CardBus slot, user can use "startnet.bat" files to start up.

[Step]
   1. please exclude memory address D400-D7FF from your system. PCMCIA Ethernet
      card enabler program will use this space
      [Example]
                DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D400-D7FF
                                or
                DEVICE=EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=D000-DFFF


   2. User need to add "LASTDRIVE=[Device Name]" in the Config.sys file,
      then reboot Notebook.
      [Example] : if you want to login to server drive "N", the string is
                  "LASTDRIVE=M".


   3. Start up the DOS ODI driver using "startnet.bat".
      a. PBX               : Intercept PCI BIOS Function Calls for CardBus

      b. ENABLER -pi il 9  : Enable the CardBus Controller with PCI Interrupt 9.
   or    ENABLER -il 9     : Enable the CardBus Controller with Interrupt 9.

      c. LSL               : Supported by Novell
      d. DC21X4            : DOS ODI driver
      e. IPXODI            : Supported by Novell
      f. NETX              : Supported by Novell

   4. Troubleshooting :
      After execute "NETX.EXE", if can't find the file server,

      a. Please check the RJ-45 Line is fine and the Hub is ready.

      b. Please make sure the Step 1, 2 have do it.

      c. After execute "ENABLER ....", make sure the screen display
         correctly message as follow :

         ³³ Ethernet, [2,0], bridge:[2,0], 128 bytes IO, base: D000h       ³³
         ³³ Ethernet, [2,0], bridge:[2,0], 1024 bytes Memory, base: CE000h ³³
         ³³ found 5 PCI devices                                            ³³
         ³³ mapped 1 PCI devices                                           ³³
         ÀÁÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÙ

         If the screen message is "mapped 0 PCI device", it is so sorry,
         the enabler can't support the slot of CardBus Controller, Please try
         other PC Card Slot.

      d. If the screen message is correctly, but still can't find the file
         server, Please try another method in Step 3.b, user can do as follow :

         ENABLER -pi -il 5
         ENABLER -pi -il 9
         ENABLER -pi -il 10
         ENABLER -pi -il 11
         ENABLER -il 5
         ENABLER -il 9
         ENABLER -il 10
         ENABLER -il 11

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
