III. Dual Game Port

In DOS analog mode a standard dual game port can support maximum
4 buttons and 4 axes such as:

1. Two 2-button joypads/joysticks for a two player gaming.
2. Single joystick with 4 buttons, analog throttle and rudder.
3. Single joypad/joystick with up to 6(or 8) buttons. In this
case the 5th and 6th buttons use up the 3rd axis (7th and
8th buttons use up the 4th axis) of the dual game port.

The RadioShack Game Controller belongs to the above 3rd kind of
configuration. The 5th and 6th buttons use up the 3rd axis (7th and
8th buttons use up the 4th axis) of the dual game port. Please refer
to the user manual for calibration routine under Window 95/98 joystick
control panel. The RadioShack Game Controller use a standard
15-pin gameport connector. It works in analog mode if the RadioShack
Game Controller driver is not being installed.

IV. Windows 95/98 Games

Unlike DOS, Windows 95/98 controls all the system interface. However,
the generic driver comes with Windows 95/98 supports only 4 buttons.
So, for most of the Windows 95/98 Games such as FIFA 98 will not natively
support the use of the buttons on 3rd and 4th axes and hence you need to install
a customer device driver in order to have more than 4 buttons functioning.

In order to serve customer better gaming experience, we provide this
device driver. With the help of the device driver, you will have
extra buttons supported under Windows 95/98 properly.

IV. Error Handling

1. There is no Game Controllers icon at the Control Panel.

At Control Panel -> System, select the page "Device Manager".
Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers". Check to see
if there is any "Gameport Joystick" entry. A joystick port
is a must for a joystick to operate.

2. There is no "Sound, video and game controllers" entry at the
   "Device Manager" page.

Check firstly that the sound card has been installed proper-
ly. For some motherboard with build-in sound device, user
has to enable it through jumper or BIOS setting.

Check secondly if drivers for the sound card has been in-
stalled. If such drivers have not been installed, a message
    "Unknown device" will appear.

There is also possibility of resource conflict. In most of
the cases, I/O range for joystick port is 0200-0207. You can
check this out by select "Computer" and then select "I/O" to
list all the I/O resource usage.

When there is I/O conflicting with the joystick port, you can
select the conflicting device within the device manager and
then select its "Resources" tag page. Please refer to the
corresponding device manual to select a new I/O range for
    your device.

3. For those who are not using Plug and Play sound cards, try
the following to install your sound cards.

   a. At Control Panel -> Add New Hardware, let the system to
search if there is any new device to be installed.
Remember to check for any resource conflict as some non-
plug-and-Play device may cause conflict unnoticed by the
      system.

4. The system keeps saying that joystick is not found.

Make sure that you have the most updated joystick port
driver. You may try by removing the joystick port at
Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager. Reboot the sys-
tem. If your joystick port is plug-and-play, it will prompt
you to install or just install automatically. If your
joystick port is non-plug-and -play, you will have to install
it manually. Finally, make sure that you have installed the
DirectX 5 driver properly. At the time this readme is written,
    DirectX 5 is required.
