I. About the Driver

Important Notes:

- You must have Windows 95/98 installed to use the included driver.
To set your gamepad to its analog mode to work with DOS programs,
do not install the supplied driver.

- You must have DirectX(TM) 5.0 or above installed on your computer
to properly test the gamepad with the included driver. If necessary,
you can download DirectX at www.microsoft.com/directx/default.asp.
Unlike DOS, Windows 95/98 controls all interaction between your games
and your gamepad. Since the driver supplied with Windows 95/98 supports
only 4 buttons, many games that run under Windows 95/98 (such as FIFA 98)
cannot use all of your gamepad’s buttons unless you install the supplied
  driver.

II. Installing the Driver

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Insert the gamepad’s connector into game port A on your computer, then
   turn on the computer.

3. Set OFF/NORMAL/TURBO on your gamepad to NORMAL.

4. Close all programs in use, then insert the supplied diskette into your
   computer’s floppy disk drive.

5. Click Start, click Run, type A:SETUP.EXE, then press Enter.

6. Follow the instructions that appear.

III. Using the Driver to Add and Calibrate the Gamepad in Windows 95/98

1. Follow Steps 1-3 under "Installing the Driver."

2. From the Start Menu, select Settings, then click on Control Panel.

3. Double-click Game Controllers.

4. Remove any existing game controller drivers.

5. Click Add, choose 8 Fire Button Digital Gamepad, then click OK.

6. Make sure the correct controller status is shown on the screen.

7. Click Properties, click Calibrate, then follow the instructions that appear.

8. Click Finish.

9. Click OK to quit.

IV. Mapping the Gamepad’s Buttons

these steps to map the gamepad’s buttons.

1. From the Start Menu, select Settings, then click on Control Panel.

2. Double-click Game Controllers.

3. Select 8 Fire Button Digital Gamepad, then click on Properties.

4. Click Map, then follow the instructions that appear.

5. When you finish mapping the buttons, click on Apply then OK.

then select Uninstall 8 Fire Button Digital Gamepad.

5. Follow the instructions that appear.

VI. Using Your Gamepad with DOS/Dual Game Ports

If you have DOS installed as your operating system, most standard dual game
ports can support a maximum of 4 buttons and 4 axes. You can connect the
following types of gamepad/joystick configurations to the game port:

- two 2-button gamepads/joysticks using a Y-connector (used for games with
  two players)

- one joystick with 4 buttons, analog throttle, and rudder

- one gamepad/joystick with up to 8 buttons (buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8 occupy
the 3rd and 4th axes of your dual game port)

Notes:

- Axes are analog directions in which your gamepad can control. For example,
some joysticks can control movement in two different directions and can
control the movement of a throttle or rudder in a game.

- Since your gamepad has 8 buttons, buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8 occupy the third and
fourth axes of your dual game port.

- Your gamepad works with IBM® and compatible PCs equipped with a joystick port,
  using the industry-standard 15-pin D subminiature connector.

VII. Troubleshooting

Q: I can’t find the Game Controllers icon on the Control Panel.

A: Follow these steps to make sure there is a joystick port installed on your
   computer:

1. From the Start Menu, select Settings, then click on Control Panel.

2. Double-click System.

3. Make sure there is an icon labeled Gameport Joystick. If not, install a
   joystick port then try again.

Q: I can’t find the Sound, video, and game controllers icon in Device Manager.

A: See your sound card’s documentation to ensure that your sound card is set up
   correctly.

Q: My computer does not show that a gamepad is installed.

A: Follow these steps to make sure that a gamepad is installed:

1. Make sure you have the latest driver installed for the gamepad.

2. Try removing then reinstalling the joystick port, then reboot your computer.
If your joystick port is a plug-and-play type, the computer will prompt you to
install it or it will install itself automatically. If your joystick port is
not a plug-and-play type, you will have to install it manually.

3. Make sure DirectX is installed.

Q: Why don’t buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8 work?

A: Check these things if buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8 do not work:

1. Make sure OFF/NORMAL/TURBO is set to NORMAL or TURBO.

2. Your computer uses the information you generate when you calibrate the gamepad
to detect the presence of these buttons. Be sure to calibrate your gamepad
after you install the supplied driver.

3. Make sure you have a game card with a single dual-port installed in your
computer. (A dual-port game card is designed to run two 2-button joysticks or
gamepads at the same time (using a Y-connector)).
