  Handheld Trackball Driver and Utilities (250-2003) 

This driver enables the user to utilize the Handheld Trackball
on an IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2, 386, 486, or compatible computer. The
trackball can be used on a computer with either a PS/2-type mouse
port or one which has a serial port. On a computer with a serial port, 
the trackball is connected to the serial port using a PS/2-to-serial 
adapter.


This disk contains the following files--

  IMOUSE.COM    TEST.EXE
  INSTALL.EXE   EGA.DRV
  VGA.DRV       README.TXT


In order to obtain a printout of this README.TXT file, insert this
disk in Drive A, make sure your printer is switched on, is on line,
and at the C:\> prompt, type the following command--

   PRINT A:README.TXT

and press <Enter>.


INSTALLATION

1.  If the Handheld Trackball has not been connected to the
    computer, plug in the trackball's 6-pin mini-DIN plug into
    the mouse port or the serial port (by means of an adapter).

2.  Start up your computer.

3.  Insert this disk in Drive A.

4.  If the computer has a hard drive, type

       A:

    and press <Enter>.

5.  Type

       INSTALL

    and press <Enter>. The install program creates an \IMOUSE
    directory on the hard drive and copies the files on this
    disk to that directory.

6.  If the computer has two floppy drives, ignore steps 4 and 5.
    Insert this disk in Drive B and the system disk in Drive A.

7.  Type

       B:

    and press <Enter>.
    
8.  Type

       INSTALL E A:

    and press <Enter>. The install program copies the files to an
    \IMOUSE directory on Drive A.

    NOTE:
       *If you want the program to copy the files to a directory or
        drive other than those given above, type

           [drive:]  (where [drive:] is the drive containing this 
                     drivers disk)
        
        and press <Enter>. Then type

           INSTALL E [path]  (where [path] is the destination where 
                             you want the files on this disk to be
                             copied)
        
        and press <Enter>.

9.  After the driver and utilities are installed, the following
    message is displayed--

       Install in AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, or Not--(A/C/N)?

    To load the driver automatically into memory from the AUTOEXEC.BAT
    file every time the computer is booted, press <A>. To load the
    driver automatically into memory from the CONFIG.SYS file every
    time the computer is booted, press <C>. To manually load the driver,
    every time you wish to use the trackball, press <N>. After you select
    one of these three choices, the following is displayed--

       Installation Complete.......

    NOTE: To manually load the driver, at the DOS prompt type IMOUSE and 
          press <Enter>.

10. Type 

       \IMOUSE\TEST

    and press <Enter>. As you use the trackball, the cursor moves and the
    cursor position indicators update. When the trackball button is pressed,
    the button status box changes to show the button press. If the test
    program does not respond, press Q to quit the program. Then load the
    mouse driver again and enter the \IMOUSE\TEST command again.


NOTE:
   *To remove the Trackball driver from the computer's memory, at the
    C:\> prompt, type
    
       IMOUSE /R
       
    and press <Enter>.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
