PFS:File Data File Recovery (250-1140/A) The RESCUE.EXE file on this disk enables the user to recover damaged PFS: File data. The symptoms of a damaged data file are-- 1. PFS: File cannot find your data file, even though it is in the drive 2. Part of the design of your form is missing 3. PFS:File tells you that the disk is full when it is not 4. Your disk is really full, but you cannot remove any forms 5. Negative or duplicate form numbers appear on the screen 6. An I/O Error is produced 7. Search stops unexpectedly when you are in the search/update function This disk contains the following files-- RESCUE.EXE README.TXT In order to obtain a printout of this README.TXT file, insert this disk in Drive A, make sure your printer is switched on, is on line, and at the C:\> prompt, type in the following command-- PRINT A:README.TXT and press <Enter>. INSTALLATION 1. Start up your computer. 2. Insert this disk in Drive A. 3. At the C:\> prompt, type in CD \PFS and press <Enter>. NOTE: In the above CD command, PFS is the name of the PFS:File directory on your system. If the name of this directory is not PFS, substitute the appropriate name in the place of PFS in this CD command line. 4. Type in COPY A:RESCUE.EXE and press <Enter>. This command copies the recovery program to the PFS:File directory on your hard drive. 5. Type in RESCUE and press <Enter>. A menu is displayed. 6. Make sure your printer is on, on line, and ready to print. 7. At the SELECTION NUMBER prompt, press <1>. 8. Press the <Tab> key. 9. At the 'DAMAGED' FILE NAME prompt, type in the name of the file you wish to run through the recovery process. 10. Press the <Tab> key. 11. At the 'RESCUED' FILE NAME prompt, type in any filename you wish, so long as it is recognizable by MS-DOS as a legitimate file name. 12. Press the <F10> key. This will start the recovery process. When the recovery is completed, an audit report of the recovery is printed out, and the RESCUE program returns to the menu. 13. Press <3> at the SELECTION NUMBER prompt and press <F10>. This exits the RESCUE program. 14. Confirm the fact that the data has been recovered by going into PFS:File and accessing the data. If for some reason, the data has not been recovered and the error conditions which you had experienced before the recovery persist, you would have to copy the previous error-free periodic backup of your data to the PFS:File directory and update this data upto the current date. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
